It's Fair Week!  If you have never been to the "Lynden Fair", then I highly encourage you to take some time and give it a visit and see what makes Whatcom County such a great place to live.  While our focus tends to be the waters to the West, there is much to the East that we have to be thankful for as well.  Whether it's the local dairy cows, the local chickens, the local berry farmers, or just the local kids showing off their livestock, it's worth a trip.  So go on!  Get a 'moo-wich' and visit the Fair!

Summer is zipping by, and as we address the coming fall we need to think about the upcoming elections. We currently have a Nominating Committee with the following members: PC Richard Veach, PC Jody Erickson, John Stockless, Dave Steffen, and Gary Smith. For those who are interested, please contact them if you would like to volunteer to serve on our Board of Trustees. There will be four first year vacancies open and we also need a new Fleet Captain.

Serving on the board allows those who get elected to understand and be involved in the “behind the scenes” operations of the club. If you haven't considered serving on the board in the past, now is a great time to be involved.

Please stay tuned to the future Jib Sheet for upcoming events. Next Saturday is the Sucia Island Luau. I think there is also a race to the Island on the same day, but I haven't seen anything announced lately.

I would also like to remind everyone that the Leukemia Cup/Pink Boat Regatta is coming up on the following Saturday the 27th. This is a very important charity event and I am very proud of our club for being a sponsor. If you would like to be involved please contact our two chairpersons, Jim Gibson and Neil Bennett.

Another Thank You to Dick and Sandy Labadie and also to Linda Lavine for their work on this Friday's Steak Night. Although it was lightly attended, I know that those who showed up received a great value for their money, and enjoyed a beautiful sunset from our deck.

It is my hope to give Dick a break on the grill next month and volunteer to be the grill master for a change.

Happily I can announce that my health issues are on the mend and I should be back in full order within the next week or so. Except of course for my knee, which I will deal with later...

Rick will be serving up good old fashion Smoke House Pork Shoulder summer BBQ themed.  Meat and rolls provided, PLEASE BRING A SIDE DISH TO SHARE.

Don’t forget this weekend is the Sucia Island Luau. If you are staying closer to shore, head down to the club this Fri @ 5 for a feed hosted by Rick Wilhoite. Bring sides and such, as per usual!

TUE: Bar and lounge open at 5!

WED: Burgers hot off the grill!

THUR: Monica’s Mexican, with her nearly famous carne asada and those tasty bean burritos!

FRI: Fri @ 5, hosted by Rick Wilhoite as he serves his smokehouse BBQ! Food service at 7, a bit later than usual!

See you in the lounge!

September is right around the corner and for the Club, that means it's election season.  Commodore Mick has put together a Nominations Committee, but they need to know if you're interested in serving!  The BYC prides itself on being a 'volunteer club' and being a Trustee is a great way for you to volunteer and give back to your Club.  Already been a Trustee?  Then please consider running for Fleet Captain -- going 'thru the chairs' is a very rewarding experience.

The Regatta is August 27, 2016. Make your plans now for a great day on the water and a fun party and dancing with the Atlantics.

Vice Commodore Neil Bennett (Pink Boat Regatta Chair)  and Rear Commodore Jim Gibson (Leukemia Cup Regatta) will be co hosting the Cancer Regatta on Saturday August 27, 2016.  Sailboats in two fleets will race to raise money for the research and cure of two of the most common cancers - Breast Cancer and Leukemia (Blood Borne Cancer) on the same course.  The race course will be in clear view of Boulevard Park.  Jim has ordered up sun and warm wind, while I have ordered more of last year's weather...who will be right?

Sailors, register your boats at for Leukemia Cup or for Pink Boat Regatta and join in the fun of good-spirited racing and fund raising.  Then join us at the BYC where a $15.00 donation will get you in the door for a fun party and dancing with the Atlantics.

It’s that time of the year when we start gearing up for our annual Labor Day PITCH regatta.

We have a job for you and you will feel great that you made a contribution to our largest keelboat regatta of the year!

If you will be in town the weekend of September 3&4, and would like to be involved in some way please contact me directly.

We are asking $42,000. Please give us a call at 707-245-7490
