LAST FRIDAY AT FIVE WAS SUPER!
THANKS to the many helpers, assembling and contributing to the huge Smorgasbord. Everything was delicious from Veronica Vernon's
Chicken Mole to Margaret Marr's
eggrolls to the Swedish meatballs (thanks Laura and Jeff Vaughan
) to Maya Allsop and Donna Olsen's
cakes to the many other contributors who made it a success. I can't mention all who assembled the trays, sliced and diced, and prepped. It made it very traditional Jul celebration...
A special thanks to Margaret Marr
, Trudy & Wayne Kelsoe
, and Jim Santosuosso
for cleaning & washing up! Note: there were no leftovers!
he White Elephant Exchange was vigorous and competitive; I think we have a new BYC tradition! We even had Elf-himself

A NEW CLUB EVENT! Remember "Supper Clubs", those places where you could go for great music, and good conversation in a nice social setting? Well, "The BYC Jazz Supper Club"
is the title for an event planned for January 27, Sunday evening
(that's the day after the Boat Show Bus.) Around 6:00 p.m. we expect the Gail Pettis Quartet playing easy-swinging tunes from "The Great American Songbook". In both our comfortable lounges we will be serving munchies with your cocktails from the no-host bar, and Sunday supper with a nice steak, a salad, and fries (or fish and chips if you prefer), while you and your guests enjoy the music. (For a comfortable listening/soft conversation experience, drinks must be taken to your table.) There may be commentary from Jud Sherwood, impresario of The Jazz Project" here in Bellingham, and, among others, the group is likely to play our own Matt Dennis dad's great tune, Angel Eyes!
The players are Gail Pettis, vocals; backed by Jeff Johnson, Jud Sherwood, and Darin Clendenin. The cost is $32/person including music, supper, tax and tip --- such a deal! This exclusive offer is limited to 75 persons, so get your tickets early.

FROM OUR COMMODORE
Another great week! Friday night was our Holiday Party at the BYC and many folks turned up for the occasion. Kathy Brown and her team served up some delicious food and the gift exchange was a fun time for all.
The Bus to the Boat show is right around the corner and the signup sheet is on the counter at the club. If you sign up be sure to pay the Bartender. It is $45.00 per person once again and it will be amazing again this year. This year’s Bus is going in honor of my bro Jim Langei; he never missed a Boat Show.
This week’s Friday at Five kicks off the Ships Store items. We want to see you there (story above) . Also on the schedule is Sunday Football at the Club. This is a Membership mixer so bring your friends and come on down and watch the game! We will be serving up some grub for all those hungry Football fans; we may even have a special drink!
As always there is a lot going on at the Club, so take a break from your Holiday shopping and come to the Club for Football on Sunday!
