Upcoming Highlights:

Check the "Upcoming" events calendar on the left, too!

This Week...

Friday, 11/16, 5:00

Please join the Education Committee and friends for a Kick-off for our new classes!  Seafood Linguine, Garlic Bread, and Caesar Salad will be served. Please bring your appetizers to share to get the evening off to a good start. (Joe Young has agreed to regale us with a couple of sea shanties to spark up the evening.)  To get the education program going we have already scheduled three US Power Squadron seminars as well as a couple of fun education events, all right here at the club. The Power Squadron seminars will be open to the public with preferred pricing for BYC members. See "Boating News" below...

Saturday, 11/17, 5:00

The Annual Sail Fleet Awards Dinner is a celebration of all things sailing and racing.   Everyone is welcome. Come and see the awards, hear the stories, and get hyped for next year...for more information, Bart Maupin at 360-201-1650.

Next Week...

Wednesday, 11/21

The Tom and Jerry Party is an excellent way to kick off the Holiday Season!  This BYC-hosted tradition (for members and their families only) takes place the day before Thanksgiving each year during the cocktail hour. Come on down and warm up with a free Tom and Jerry or two (it's a toasty eggnog drink with allspice, cinnamon and cloves) served by PC Michele Bennett and Trustee Neil Bennett who have taken on the duties (a long-term commitment?) from P/C Bud Peterson and his son, Jim.  The Bar will be open and appetizers will be available and are welcomed.  Plus, you will get to find out which Bennett is Jerry and which one is Tom! Be sure to bring your new BYC Membership Card for admittance.

For Everyone:

The Annual Sail Fleet Awards Dinner is a celebration of all things sailing and racing.   Everyone is welcome. Come and see the awards, hear the stories, and get hyped for next year...for more information, Bart Maupin at 360-201-1650.
Note the dates to left for this year's Lighted Boat Parade.
New Classes for Boaters Scheduled!  We have scheduled three US Power Squadron seminars as well as a couple of fun education events, all right here at the club. The Power Squadron seminars will be open to the public with preferred pricing for BYC members. So bring your friends --- the dates are 11/28 and 12/12.  These are the first two of six seminars that will improve your Seamanship skills and make you a safer boater. And it's no secret...safer skippers inspire confidence among their crew, and everyone has more fun. So please join us on F@5 November 16 (see above) to hear more about our plans and to give us some input on areas you might like to know more about. --- Tom Dalgliesh, Education Committee Chair

Steve Ross's Photo Contest:  Last week's picture of Pfalzgrafenstein Castle was correctly identified by Jim Gibson. Here's an entertaining story about the place: http://great-castles.com/pfalztale.php.  This week's picture is from somewhere else. Club News

From the Commodore:

It was a cold weekend. I kept thinking about all those participating in the Round the County Sail Boat Race.  I hope everyone had fun and that somehow you were able to be dry and stay somewhat warm during this weekend.
This week we have a Board meeting on Thursday and a Friday at 5 PM (see above story).  The Sink the Dinghy fund kicks off then, too.  A wonderful dinner planned and a presentation to boot.  This will be one you do not want to miss!
Thanks again to all that helped with the Commodores Ball. Somehow “Thank You” does not seem like really enough.  Our Volunteers are what make up our membership.  We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful talented folks who make sure our events are special.  Thanks so much!
If you have not signed up for one of our wonderful Committees, it is never too late.  Just contact me directly and we will get you added to the Committee of your choice.  And thanks so much for all you do... my hat's off to our membership!  Fair winds~ Commodore Jody King Erickson
Fair seas from Joe Coons, Jib Sheet Editor.  Send stories by noon Monday to jibsheet@byc.org.
