FRIDAY AT 5 POT-LUCK DONORS: DO YOU REMEMBER YOUR RECIPES?
Please send your main dish, appetizer, side and salad recipes to the Cookbook Committee! The group advises the book will come out in the last quarter, and you'll want to be included, and there's a bonus for anyone who submits six or more! Here's where to post them: http://members.byc.org/cookbook/ Thank you
. PS: The cookbook committee also needs the donor names for the Mediterranean Summer Salad, Vegetarian Frittata, and Breakfast Cornbread!!
DILIGENCE PAYS OFF! Heather Ouilette
who schedules our volunteer bartenders emailed everyone with a reminder how important it is to check everyone's membership card
. Her email was prompted by this report from one of our volunteers: "I believe someone from the Liquor Control Board came in and attempted to get served. He looked out of place, wearing a suit and carrying a portfolio - initially I thought he might be with the event next door. When I asked him if he was a member and informed him that we were a private club - he immediately apologized and said "he understood", turned around and left the building."
It is this kind of attention to details that keeps our record unblemished. THANKS!
SORRY, YOUR DISHWARE IS GONE!
You can retrieve it at the "Mother of all garage sales" benefiting Lydia Place August 10-11 from 9-5 Saturday, 9-2 Sunday, at the Bellingham Sportsplex.
LAST WEEK'S FACTOID: Our Members Daryl Lin and Sharon Chang own Michael Vincent, a Grand Banks 36 "woodie", and spent three years in Wellington, New Zealand; they even have a dog named Wellington. They both are PhD's, and Daryl is a statistician for a Seattle drug manufacturer. They are enthusiastic new boat owners, and Sharon has volunteered to take over the job of BYC Membership Secretary from Marian Welch; thank you, Sharon. [Send your Member Recognition Suggestions to Jibsheet13@byc.org.]

BUCCANEERS' CRUISE PRIZES NEEDED!
We are looking for good quality gifts for the three treasure hunts/chests for the Buccaneers Cruise. It could be anything; we have children's, teen & adult treasure chests. The more treasure we have the better! Suggestions: board games, fishing equipment, beach toys, nautical novelties, jewelry, sporting gear. Please email Jim Santosuosso at email@example.com
or text Angie S. at #360-927-4844. Thank you!
LETTER FROM A MEMBER: "To our BYC friends: Skylark II, our Tollycraft 43 is a legend in the NW. After 18 years, Joe & Judy Coons had readied her for us to own since 2007. She has been our home and adventure boat since, taking us to wonders from Olympia to Sitka and the Broughtons. Easy to learn and a handling pleasure with her newer John Deere engines and Wesmar stabilizers, she is efficient, comfortable, and stable: perfect for the NW!
Now it's time to hand Skylark II to her next adventurers . She had many upgrades over Joe’s years, and we continued the tradition with our own careful improvements. Skylark II will be ready for viewing by potential future loving owners in a week or so, and we're available anytime! Thanks." Gordon & Susie Hilaski, Gordon.firstname.lastname@example.org 562-252-6800.”
[Ed. Note: We will run a boat ad twice, free, for any Member. Contact Jibsheet13@BYC.ORG.]
BURGER SPECIAL CONTINUES:
Our Wednesday Weekly Racing & Burger Night has continued to be a success and a fun evening at the club. In addition to our cheeseburgers, we will be offering vegetarian black bean burgers for our Club's non-meat eaters. Carnivore or not, come on down and enjoy a tasty burger and beverage this Wednesday! Also, if you'd like to get involved with grilling, please contact Matt Ouilette at email@example.com
BARTENDER REMINDER: Empty kegs when disconnected should be put in the closet at the foot of the outside steps to the lower floor (the combination is the same as the walk-in cooler. They do not go outside, nor just in the hall by the cooler door! The beverage vendors now know to pick them up there, and they won't be stolen (costing us the significant deposits). Thank you.

STEVE ROSS'S PHOTO CONTEST...
Last week's photograph
was of the River Livet, taken just outside the Glenlivet Distillery in Scotland. Pam Heward
was very close with her answer of the River Spey (of which the Livet is a tributary), while Susan Hempler Hooper
was a bit farther afield...
This week we see a calm sea with a rocky beach from a high vantage point. Things weren't always so peaceful here. If you know the location, please send your answer to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Jib Sheet Editor this week is Joe Coons.
