THE LIGHTED BOAT PARADE SOUP & PRIZE PARTY WAS HUGE!

Thanks to all of the fabulous cooks and contributors of delicious soups from the following folks for our Lighted Boat Parade After Party Soup Supper!  [Forgive me if I've forgotten to mention you.]  All of the soups were out of this world and there wasn't a bite left in any crockpot taken home!  Donna Olsen, Lisa McArdle, Sue Day, Jane Simica, Patty Gargett, April Sakahara, Ray & Sally Poorman, Cori Curran, Marion Welsh, Karen Calar, Bob Kehoe and Angie Santosuosso

And thanks to Mary Burns for bringing rolls…we even had a new couple, not members yet, who brought a soup-how awesome!  (We heard they joined the club that night.)
Thanks as well to those who brought other yummy goodies to share.  As always, the great functions that our amazing BYC hosts are only possible because of you wonderful members who volunteer time and effort, including our volunteer bartenders.  You know who you are and we appreciate you. From opening up the club, getting lights, heat & music going, running the bar, and then clean-up and dish duty and tidying, your time and efforts for volunteering at this and every event we put on is so much appreciated.  Bartenders for the LBP party were Donna Olsen, Jon Seestrom, Jonathan Knowles, Dick Johnson, Paul Beich and Joseph CarpenterTheir Tip Jar raised over $120 for Youth Sailing…

Thanks also to Kayla and Tierney Owens for doing such a great job running the kids holiday crafting during the party!  Many kids enjoyed making a Christmas ornament that they got to take home.  Good job ladies!

For all those who helped decorate our beautiful club for the Christmas season, thank you.  The place looks wonderful and so festive…of course the event was organized by our awesome Fleet Captain Jonathan Knowles who did a great job putting on the Parade this year!

Lastly, if you attended the party this year, you no doubt sensed the energy and excitement that surrounded the whole evening.  It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces, especially families with young children and folks dressed up in holiday garb and fun costumes, too!  Every comment heard about the event was very positive. For those of us who enjoyed our first Lighted Boat Parade Party, we were surprised at how much fun it was!

Merry Christmas, and thanks again, Angie Santosuosso, Programs Co-Chair

TOYS FOR TOTS IS ROLLING ALONG:

Make the holidays bright for area youngsters. Help the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation provide Christmas joy to less fortunate children.  You can bring new unwrapped toys, books, and items to BYC and drop off in the Toys for Tots box.  Toys will be delivered to our local Toys for Tots and given to kids.  Your donation helps to make sure no child is left empty handed for Christmas day. SINK THE DINGHY ADOPTS AMY'S PLACE

Our very successful Sink The Dinghy Holiday Charity Program has adopted Amy's Place! Sink the Dinghy is our very successful charity project that, last year, raised over $10,000 for another good cause, given in the name of our BYC.

This year that cause is Amy's Place, a drop-in center here in town for kids from grade school up through teen years, many of whom, sadly, are homeless.  The charity, carefully selected by the Sink the Dinghy Committee, is a service of Bellingham Christian Ministries, but it is non-sectarian.

We had a full presentation about Amy's Place at the Tom & Jerry Party, and donations are rolling in!  This project is heartwarming for donors, and excellent community relations for our Club.  You donation is fully tax-deductible.  Make you check out to Sink the Dinghy, and send it to John Gargett or Paul Myers, or mail it to the Club office (BYC, 2625 E. Harbor Loop, Bellingham, WA 98225).

ANGIE'S SOUP RECIPE IS HERE...

For those of you who attended the Lighted Boat Parade Soup Supper After Party and requested the recipe for Angie's Oyster Chowder, here it is as she promised you she'd send it out.  Enjoy!

HELP WANTED!

Joe Coons and Jim Langei are the Jib Sheet Editors, and they'd like to add to their list of editors another couple of BYC Members so we can all rotate the job and share the load.

If you can write a modest news story, have a computer, and can use Microsoft WORD you have almost all the pre-requisites to help out.  In return for volunteering, you'll get training in using the programs that do the BYC mailings and maintain our web site, and you'll get nuch better informed about our Club and its activities.

For most of this summer and fall, Joe has been doing the editing, and this has given him a chance ro refine the process.  He spends two to two-and-one-half hours per week at the task, getting it done in this time because of short cuts he's developed that he will share with any new co-editors.  He's documented the whole process so after a few issues, you should be as proficient as he is!

To learn more or sign up, email Joe at joejudyc@comcast.net or call him at (360) 739-1528.  Thanks!
