Here is our second Jib Sheet in the new format. One of our new capabilities is to see how many of you are reading these. New Dining Service Starts this Friday! Hitchhiking on the success of Wednesday night casual dining, Windows on the Bay is now providing nice dinner buffets on the 2nd and 4th Fridays (alternating with potluck Fridays at Five on the 1st and 3rd Fridays.) You can have a delicious buffet meal for $16. Casual as always. Should be fun!
Jody Erickson, our Fleet Captain, has her monthly report on our site. She’d like volunteer help with regattas. She’s also pleased with the turnouts at our Club events.
Picture of the Week! A neat shot (here) taken by Brandy Curran of Robin Lesch and Lily Grimshaw aboard the Americas Cup boat, Stars and Stripes.
Steve Kersey is doing a clean-up and remodel of the junior area downstairs and needs help this weekend June 12-13 with the cleanup phase. Call him at 510-6452 for details.
Dick Grimshaw gives us a financial report for the remodeling. The budget was $211,000. In addition, we wanted to buy chairs and tables and other items to be covered by contributions. We wound up receiving gifts from members for tables and chairs of $40,473. That gave us a total budget of $251,473. We spent about $243,000 (the last bills are not in yet for the new door locks, an awning, and Commodores Lounge furniture but this figure includes allowances for those.) That means we are still $8,000 under budget, in spite of our additions of the deck doors, refrigeration upgrade, unanticipated sprinkler cost, new locking system, and more! Hats off again to all the committees and workers on this great project, and especially to our donors…
Our great reciprocal ambassador, Captain Homie is retiring from boating! Frank Richardson stunned us with the news that Caroline is for sale (asking $90,000) and he and Patty are taking a boating hiatus. Read about it here; there’s an email link, too.
It’s that Swiftsure Time of Year… Michele Hurst Bennett a new hubby Neil joined with others in this year’s great race and gave us a good report. Thanks, folks! And Michele adds her thanks to all the friends who gave their Garufa a new “wedding dodger”…
