SUMMER SOLSTICE Sail #4 is this FRIDAY!
Summer Solstice Sail #4 with theme - “YMCA”, is this Friday August 10th. Crew hookup and skippers meeting 5 PM at BYC Clubhouse.
The BYC Summer Solstice Sail is a fun event to get sailors, cruises, racers and wannabes out on the water for a casual around the buoy sailing on Friday evenings.
a different theme each week--this week's is YMCA--think Village People
a first place prize is a “Bottle of Rum” is awarded to the boat with the highest number points
the point system is arbitrarily assigned :)
If you have a sailboat, then take out some friends, co-workers, family out sailing in this very informal venue.
If you want to crew? Sign up at BYC’s Crew Exchange at http://sailfleet.byc.org/ or be at the BYC Clubhouse on Friday around 5 PM.
BUCCANEER DAYS ARE COMING TO OUR OWN INATI BAY!
Here’s the poster. On Friday the 17th at Inati Bay, dinner is on your own, with an evening of sing-along around the campfire with Joe Young and a movie on a sail.
don your best pirate & wench or buccaneer costumes
costume contest with five categories to be judged with prizes
bring your younguns for the children's treasure hunt
adults’ treasure hunt -- no pushing or shoving or you will be walking the plank.
Buccaneer Dinner with steak, grilled fish, and salads (bring a side or dessert to share)
Dance away to the live band: "Seatown Rhythm and Blues Players”
s’mores and probably some more singing around the campfire, and a couple of kegs.
Sunday, we will be bribing ya with a pancake, sausage & egg breakfast to help clean up and packaway the Buccaneer Cruise equipment and supplies. Then, when you feel like it, back home.
No boat? No worries! Free transport to Inati on the 18th at 10 a.m. returning at 7 p.m. For a ride, sign up at the Bar; bring your own Life Jacket if possible!
HOT AUGUST SAILS SERIES BEGINS
Last week's Wednesday sailors enjoyed wind and sun for the start of the Hot August series. The Race Committee hung on through the swells and gave the Etchells Sailors two races while the PHRF boats did 2 laps around the post point bouy.
This week has will be filled with the 2nd race of the series on Wednesday, a summer solstice race Friday, and the Governors Point distance race on Saturday. Skippers meeting for the Governors point race will be at 9AM at Gate 3. With the start at 10am. The weather is looking great we hope to see everyone there!
Several Bellingham boats are preparing for the annual Anacortes Yacht Club's Northern Century Race that begins in the evening of Friday, August 24th and proceeds around the San Juan Islands. The course is approximately 100 miles depending on the route and makes for a challenging weekend. Our very own Mick Corcoran took 1st place last year in the crewed division. Further information can be found at Anacortesyachtclub.org. Any boat interested are encouraged to register early and make sure their boat is prepared.
Its not to early to begin planning your crew for PITCH labor day weekend. We are continuing to plan and encourage membership participation in the event. If your interested in helping with Race Committee or other tasks let me know at: firstname.lastname@example.org

8th ANNUAL CRUISE TO POETS COVE SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER
It is hard to believe, but this will be the 8th Annual Cruise for the club to Poets Cove Resort & Spa is September 15, 16 & 17 (Same weekend as always, 3rd Weekend in September)
Every year the Autumn Equinox marks a day of equal light and darkness. A meaning of the Celtic Autumn Equinox Alban Elfed is “Light of the Water.” Around the world, from Persia, to China, the end of the summer and beginning of autumn is a special time.
In the tradition of celebrating the end of the season, this popular and intimate cruise is one of our most popular, in part because of the friendships, the enjoyment of the Saturna Island Wine & Harvest Festival
, as well as relaxing in one of the nicest locations in the San Juan and Gulf Islands.
This year they still may have a few rooms available, and you do need to get your dock reservations in by September 9th. Here is the contact information for making reservations:
Phone Numbers (Be sure and tell them you are with the Bellingham Yacht Club)
For The Marina Slips - 1 250 629 2111
or email email@example.com
to make your reservation. Due to enhanced security regulations you need to make your reservation directly
And, here is the preliminary information:
Dock Party at 1700-1900 on Friday Night. I don't know what boat yet, but it will be on the dock.
Potluck Breakfast on Saturday at 0900-1030. This will be on the end of the dock where we always hold it. (You will see the tent or the tables!)
Saturday from 1130-1500: Saturna Wine Festival, Art Walk or Ganges Farmers Market
Saturday night from 1830-????? This is still being formulated, but may again be?
Sunday morning is a breakfast if you want to join us in Auroras Restaurant.
Call me if you want more details! Patti and I look forward to seeing you.
MARKETING STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING-SAVE THE DATE
Please join us for a Mexican pot luck dinner meeting on Tuesday, August 21 at 6 pm at the BYC. We welcome new members!
