OPENING DAY REPORT...

Your editor attended the annual ceremonies at the Club on Saturday morning, and our Club did itself proud!  Organized by Fleet Captain Jonathan Knowles, Commodore Troy Curran MC'ed most of the program which was dedicated to the late Members Sterling Taylor and Jim Langei.  All in attendance were reminded to be thankful for their safe boating experiences in the year to come by our Club Chaplain, Bishop Kevin Allen; as usual, he was his eloquent self bringing a note of spritual emphasis to the traditional Blessing of the Fleet.

The party had begun before the ceremonies, with great music from a group from the High School (weren't they great?) and with libations and appetizers organized by the splendid social committee.

As for the parade and later events, we have yet to hear from our correspondents (sleeping it off?) but we're hoping to report next week.
Arribba! Arribba!!

THIS WEEK’S PHOTO QUIZ

Three people correctly identified last week’s photo of Bergen, Norway, taken from the upper station of the Fløibanen tram. Dean Altschuler stayed at a youth hostel nearby, Joe Bartlett remembers a meal at the restaurant, and Meredith Ross remembers the cold and misty day we were there.

This week’s picture is from a very different place. If you know where, send your answer to steve.ross@wwu.edu
Remember to submit your articles to  Jibsheet@byc.org  Deadline is each Monday noon.
