Family Fun Fest at Maplewood Saturday!
West Bucktown will kick summer into high gear this Saturday, July 21 with a fabulous Family Fun Fest at Maplewood Park! Please join us for this FREE day of family-friendly festivities, including:

The little ones will have a blast participating in the fun mix of summertime activities we have planned!

Prepare to dance and sway the afternoon away with live music from the Horner Park Jazz Band!

Grab the blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a special showing of the action-packed Adventures of Tintin!

West Bucktown is so very fortunate to have such a wonderful park venue available to the neighborhood for these kinds of fun summertime gatherings. Many thanks to the Chicago Park District, the Maplewood and Lucy Flower Parks Advisory Council (MLFPAC), and 1st Ward Alderman Joe Moreno for giving us yet another opportunity to appreciate and enjoy Maplewood Park to the fullest!

Reminder: Third Thursday Tomorrow!
IMAGE: Third ThursdayThe second Third Thursday of the summer is set for tomorrow evening, July 19 at Maplewood Park. If you haven't attended one of these neighborhood get-togethers in a while, you just might be surprised at how popular the event has become for young and old alike! So grab the family, pack some drinks and snacks, and meet us at the park at 6:00PM. As an added bonus, West Bucktown's own Amy Ewaldt of the Cortland Preschool will be on hand to provide 30 minutes of storytime for the little ones!

WBNA Block Party August 19
Save the date! The WBNA is planning a neighborhood Block Party on Sunday, August 19. Details are still in the works, but you can count on an afternoon of food, music, games, and more!  Mark your calendars now and plan to join us for some good old-fashioned neighborhood fun!

Back-To-School Health Fair
On Friday, July 27, 1st Ward Alderman Joe Moreno and 8th District Cook County Commissioner Edwin Reyes are sponsoring a Back-to-School Health Fair at the shared campus of Mirta Ramirez and Moos Schools, 1711 N. California. From 10 am to 2 pm, they will be giving away more than 2,000 backpacks filled with all the supplies children need to get excited about school and excel at their studies. This completely free event will also feature immunizations, vision and dental screenings, asthma information, and more.

Intermix Fitness Opens at MSA Circus Arts
IMAGE: InterMix LogoLooking to mix up your fitness routine? Then check out Intermix Fitness — a whole new work-out experience right here in West Bucktown! The latest venture of accomplished acrobat Almas Miermanov of MSA Circus Arts fame, Intermix Fitness offers semi-private classes and personal attention from certified trainers, with participants utilizing their own body weight and resistance bands to build muscle strength, flexibility and stamina.  
Initially, one-hour classes will be held at the MSA gym (1934 N. Campbell) on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6 am and 7:30 am. Rates are available for both drop-in classes (no commitment) or discounted class cards — and your first trial class is free! Advance registration is required.
