New WBNA Website Launched
Membership Drive Kicks Into High Gear

New WBNA Website Launched!
It was almost a year ago that we hung an “under construction” sign on the old WBNA website and set about trying to spruce up our neighborhood’s online presence. Originally launched several years ago, the site had become increasingly difficult to update, and it lacked some of the newer functionality (like audio and video capabilities) to make it a truly interactive experience for our members.

But that was then, and this is now!  After a couple of false starts and a comprehensive search to find an easy-to-use and inexpensive web hosting service, we are pleased to announce the debut of the new and improved WBNA website!

We encourage you to bookmark the site at www.westbucktown.org and visit us regularly to stay on top of all things West Bucktown. Armed with your feedback, we’ll also be expanding the site in the weeks ahead – here are just some of the features and information you can expect to find:

  • WBNA mission and purpose
  • Safety, environmental and zoning initiatives
  • Calendar of events and social activities
  • Newsletter, video and photo archives
  • Special announcements
  • Surveys and polls
  • A “marketplace” for buying/selling products and services
  • Community links and contact info

Thanks for your patience as we work through the expected kinks and bugs associated with launching a new website. Please let us know if you experience any problems with the site, or if you have suggestions for additional improvements down the road. Just shoot us an email at communications@westbucktown.org.

We are excited to add this very important resource to the growing WBNA communications line-up, which also includes our Facebook page, "WindowBox" newsletters, and regular email blasts like the one you're reading right now. We're working hard to ensure that our members are never at a loss to know what's happening in the 'hood!

Membership Drive Kicks Into High Gear
The new website is just one example of your WBNA membership dues in action. Without the financial support of our nearly 300 members, we wouldn't be able to do a lot of the things we've all come to enjoy over the years, including subsidizing WBNA holiday parties, supporting our neighborhood parks, and organizing social activities.

The 2011 WBNA Membership Drive is well underway -- many thanks to those of you who have already stepped up and paid your dues for the coming year. Membership is open to all residents and businesses and gives you access to the “inside scoop,” including our newsletters, email alerts, and safety phone trees, as well as voting rights in future Board elections. Annual dues are a nominal $25 per household ($50 for businesses and organizations) and 100% of the money gets funneled back into West Bucktown.

As an added incentive, everyone who pays their 2011 dues before February 28 will be automatically entered into a random drawing to receive a gift certificate donated by an area restaurant, coupled with a great bottle of wine. Think of it as your chance to enjoy a night out on the town courtesy of the WBNA!

Click here to pay your dues with your credit card or PayPal account. If you prefer to pay with cash or check, please mail your payment to the West Bucktown Neighborhood Association, P.O. Box 477282, Chicago, IL 60647. (We also encourage any businesses that join to email us at info@westbucktown.org, as we’d love the opportunity to discuss potential mutually beneficial partnerships with you.)

Your membership dues, along with your continued support of time, talent and energy, are what unite us as a community and help us reach our common goals. Thank you for all you have done – and continue to do – to make West Bucktown a great place to live!
