Make a Real Difference in a Child's Life
For the past several weeks, we've been talking about
the valuable services provided by the Maryville Crisis Nursery
, a Chicago-area nonprofit that offers free emergency childcare to families under extreme stress from domestic violence, homelessness, medical emergencies, etc. There are many struggling 1st Ward families that could -- and do -- benefit from this kind of lifeline, which is why we've made the Crisis Nursery the beneficiary of our annual WBNA holiday giving campaign.
Please visit our website
to join us in raising funds for this very worthwhile cause. Your contribution of ANY amount is hugely appreciated -- because together, we can make a real difference in these children's lives. For example:
$50 purchases baby formula and diapers
$100 provides toys and activities for the children
$250 buys a book for every child to take home
$500 keeps a child safe overnight
Thank you for recognizing that many area families don't have the same trusted support systems in place as the rest of us do. With your donation, the Crisis Nursery can give them the help and resources they so desperately need to navigate the challenges life throws their way.

If your list of New Year's Resolutions included something along the lines of "get more involved in the community," please consider joining the Maplewood and Lucy Flower Parks Advisory Council (MLFPAC)
at its monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 18 at 6:30 pm
in the Maplewood Park field house. MLFPAC is actively recruiting new blood and green thumbs, so bring your fresh ideas and help us brainstorm ways to keep West Bucktown's parks thriving. It might be the dead of Winter, but it's never too early to start thinking Spring! On behalf of our green spaces and all who enjoy them -- thank you for stepping up and helping out.
