Bricks, Benefactors...and a Bench to Boot!
New Park Design to be Unveiled Tomorrow

Bricks, Benefactors...and a
Bench to Boot!

It's been a banner week of fundraising for the renovation of Lucy Flower Park! Just seven days ago, we asked all West Bucktowners to help us whittle away at the last $20,000+ needed to break ground on a new park this summer, and you did not disappoint! We've received a steady stream of donations and personalized brick orders, and thanks to your generous contributions, we are now just $14,000 shy of our $70,000 fundraising goal.
And the good news doesn't stop there!
We are thrilled to announce that Lucy Flower has received its first bench sponsorship! The family of Susan Wagner -- whose daughter and son-in-law live on the 2500 block of Cortland Street  — are joining together to purchase a bench in memory of Susan's mother, who passed away last year. "The idea of providing a resting place for children and their parents — including my mother's own great-grandchildren — appealed to all of us," Susan wrote in her email to the Maplewood & Lucy Flower Park Advisory Council.  Such a beautiful sentiment, and a truly touching way to honor a loved one. Look for "Bama's Bench" (as she was called by her grandchildren) to serve as a lasting tribute at Lucy Flower Park for generations to come.
We've made great strides, West Bucktown, and we have lots to feel good about. But we can't rest on our laurels just yet! We have just a few short weeks left to raise the remaining $14,000 if we are to break ground on a new park this summer!

If you've already made a contribution — thank you for your generosity, and congratulations on joining the ranks of our Seeds of Change donor recognition program. If you've been thinking about buying a personalized brick, please use our online order form to make your purchase today. We still have one more bench up for grabs, as well!
