Weaver's Wanderings - Medical team update

This past week we have been working with a medical team in Tactic.  My parents were part of the team, which was really special.  You can check out the team's activities below.  We also want to extend a warm welcome to those friends and supporters of my parents who are receiving this email.

Medical Team:

God has worked in amazing ways with this medical team.  First, the team has gathered from two countries and five states all traveling to Tactic to help staff the medical clinic, which is attached to the Chijacorral school.  The team consisted of a doctor, two nurses, and an x-ray technician along with several support people, who did some painting and children's ministry.

We had an amazing week of ministry!  During the week we saw approximately 170 patients.  Many of them were from a remote village of Nokampop.  Many of the walked from their homes to the pickup point and then were bused into Tactic.  When we asked one older man the last time he had seen a doctor, his answer was "about 20 years ago"!

Many of the patients suffered from various infections, worms, malnutrition, and general gastrointestinal issues.  The nurse from Canada brought medicine for the clinic that was purchased through a donation from her church.

While the activity of serving people in the medical clinic was the primary work of the team, it was about building relationships and showing them Christ's love that we pray will bring them closer to a relationship with Jesus.  While the patients were waiting for their medicines, we had a team member offer to pray for them.

I (Candy) continue to get updates from my brothers, regarding my mom. She is doing better with each day, but continues to struggle with putting the right words in the right place and continues to struggle with her right side mobility. There are hurdles before her and many changes that have come about quite suddenly. Please pray for her continued recovery. Also pray for my family as we move forward with many large decisions regarding my mom's continued care.
* We had three successful teams this summer!
* The medical clinic went amazingly well and we were able to serve many patients, sharing Christ's love with them.
* Candy's mom continues to make progress in her recovery!

Prayer Requests:
* Continue to pray for Candy's mom's recovery and peace for friends and family.
* Pray that we have a safe trip back to Boston on Monday.
* Pray that God would continue to lead and guide as we move towards full-time ministry and that He would provide everything that we need to make that transition.
