Missions Trip to Tactic, Guatemala with Impact Ministries
What can we say. We had an amazing trip and felt well supported both financially and in prayer. It was a true testimony to God’s grace and blessing to have such a wonderful supporting cast of friends and family stand behind us as we traveled to Tactic, Guatemala with Impact Ministries and the Duvall Church. There are many things to give thanks for including:
  • Safety in travel and good health
  • Enough energy to keep up with all the activities
  • The ability to use our limited Spanish & still connect with  the kids & others we ministered to
  • A good snapshot at Impact Ministries and their ministry  in Guatemala
  • Time to talk with Les & Rita Peters about the future of the ministry and our possible roles
  • We experienced the real love and warmth of the  Guatemalan people
  • Seeing kids praising God with all their hearts
We have gone through all our video footage and pictures and have compiled a few different videos that we have posted on-line. In order to accommodate varying levels of Internet access we have compiled each video into "High", "Medium", and "Low" resolutions. If you have broadband access and possibly fast DSL you should be able to use the "High" resolution links. For DSL type speeds the "Medium" resolution should work. If you have dial=up we think the "Low" resolution should work. Below is a quick summary of the different videos with links to them.

1. A 10 minute overview video of Guatemala, Impact Ministries, and what we did while we were in Tactic.
High - http://vimeo.com/14467581
Medium - http://www.vimeo.com/14928734
Low - http://www.vimeo.com/14925097

2. A 4 minute summary video to the song "What Faith Can Do" by Kutless. For those not familiar with Impact Ministries and their work we would suggest watching the overview video first to provide the context to this summary video.
High - http://vimeo.com/14543867
Medium - http://www.vimeo.com/14928753
Low - http://www.vimeo.com/14925116

3. A 13 minute video of Edgar’s testimony. Edgar was one of the first children sponsored in the first Impact Ministries school.  He is now the director of that school, We consolidated his testimony into a shorter more concise video.

We were looking to see if Impact Ministries and Tactic, Guatemala would be a place for us to focus and dwell.  Check out the 6 minute video below to see a short clip of Les talking to our team and what we plan to do next.

 Candy's Update
After we returned from Guatemala, everything seemed to speed up. We slowed it down with two great weekends camping and reflecting on our time in Guatemala and the impact it made on how we think about and live our lives. I can’t speak for Tim, but I feel a need to be more focused. I’m wrestling with the many opportunities before me: Guatemala, MIT, teaching horse stuff, church responsibilities and being a wife. My life is so full and I praise God for using such a broken person to glorify him in so many avenues. I really sense a strong desire to simplify and focus, but that doesn’t seem like me. I’m so used to running in many different directions, but maybe my age is catching up to me – who knows. But this desire to focus is coming at a perfect time and I believe God will help me focus on those things he planned for me.

I do have a few prayer requests. I ask for your prayers as we move ahead with Impact Ministries in the US. Pray that God provides guidance, wisdom, and strength as we venture forward. And as you have time, pray for me and the gals I teach riding to on the weekends. Pray that the girls are safe and that our time together has a spiritual impact beyond the riding.

Tim's Update
Life has been busy since returning from Guatemala. Fortunately work this summer has been fairly slow, but we have been camping a few weekends, working on sorting through pictures and creating videos, and traveled to PA for Labor Day weekend for a surprise birthday party for my dad.  Now we are in the new academic year at MIT and things are starting to pick up again at work, and our Belmont Life Community group will start up again this week.

Some new things this year. I will be a part of a men's group on Wednesday evenings at Grace Chapel. It will be a good time to get to know some other men at church, while deepening my faith. We will also be busy helping to launch Impact Ministries in the USA. This involves getting a 501c3 non-profit organization established and then recruiting child sponsors and people who would want to go on a short term missions trip next year. If your church, youth group, college, group, school, or another group would like to partner more deeply with Impact Ministries and this part of Guatemala please contact us and we can get you more information. We would also ask that you keep us in prayer as we continue to move forward and seek the Lord's leading and timing.

We launched a website a while back that will hopefully aid us as we try to keep in contact with an ever increasing number of people. Check it out at www.tcweaver1.com. We have a blog there as well that we try to update in between newsletters! We love to hear what's going on in your lives as well. Email us any time at either tim@tcweaver1.com or candy@tcweaver1.com.

We are also both on Facebook! You can "friend" us and keep in touch that way as well.

Prayer Partners Needed
We have at different times worked to create a group of people willing to pray for us on an ongoing basis. As we look to the future we realize that we need to make a concerted effort to grow this group to 25 people.  If you would like to receive more frequent short updates with prayer and praise items as they arise please click here to be added to our prayer partner list.
