Get ready, because I’m about to drop some cray-cray news on you.
If you follow me on social media, you may have wondered what I was doing in Indianapolis a few weeks ago. And this week-- a second trip to Indy. “What’s Michelle up to in Indy?” you ask?
Since you’re my VIP reader, I want you to be the first to know (well I already told my mom and a few other people, because you know, that could get awkward otherwise).
In early August, my family and I will be relocating to Carmel, Indiana, an adorable suburb brushing up against Indianapolis. My husband received a promotion with the company that he's been with for more than a decade that’s too good to refuse [cue Marlon Brando voice, I can’t help myself]. While initially I was naturally hesitant to leave the Phoenix metro area (okay, protested), the place we love and have lived for 15 years, we are looking forward to another adventure. One day I woke up and said, “Hey, people relocate every day. Let’s do it.
It’s funny, I’ve been getting two different reactions from people in response to the news. Those who have never visited Indy say, “WOW! That is DIFFERENT!!!!” People that have spent some time there cheer, “Indy is such a cool city!” or “OMG, Carmel is awesome, you’re going to love it.” Early this May I took my first trip ever to Indiana. Having grown up in Wisconsin, I am a Midwestern girl at heart, so I know cold weather. Though, I have tucked away that part of my brain for some time now.
We are building a spec home there. I’m totally stoked about designing the kitchen, which I will keep you apprised of. Here is just a sneak peek.

The drywall isn’t even up yet! So far, the restaurants have been amazing, the people so genuinely nice and the neighborhoods gorg. A totally surprise: a Tesla dealership in the mall.
Here are some things that I thought you'd be interested to know:
  • My consulting and media business will continue on as usual, for the most part. 
  • I will continue appearing on the nationally syndicated TV show "The List.” I’ll get to tape myself out of my new home kitchen. Yes!
  • I plan to continue with my newspaper column, which has been running 4 years strong in The Arizona Republic
  • "Arizona Midday", my regular TV segment that I've had for 10 years on NBC-Phoenix will miss me. They said I can come back anytime I'd like to do a segment. Jan and Destry are the sweetest. I will be on the lookout for a new TV home in Indianapolis, which I hear has a great TV market. David Letterman and Jane Pauly got their start there, after all!
  • All of my other national work will continue as normal. Plus, I'll be within driving distance of Chicago. So who knows what other adventures await? (Oh, hi there, Mr. Harvey!)
  • I'll maintain a Scottsdale address and will be back to visit regularly. You know it. Arizona is my OG adult home, after all.
I look forward to sharing my adventures with you and getting new inspiration to keep delivering to you craveable recipes, tips and foodspiration. And if you have any Indy tips, please do share! In the meantime, enjoy my latest and greatest recipes and tips in this issue.

So you bought a watermelon the size of toddler. While it's a perfectly delicious snack on its own, why not kick things up with my Watermelon-Cilantro Pico de Gallo with Oven-Fried Tortilla Chips! It's the perfect dish to bring to that upcoming BBQ you're attending. Or skip the DIY chips in favor of a clean store-bought variety and you have an easy appetizer for Friday happy hour at home!
