Airport art

Headed to DIA / Denver International Airport?

Next time you’re traveling or meeting guests/family at the airport, allow a few extra minutes to visit the DIA Art Gallery in the northwest portion of the main terminal. Five of my collages, all interpretations of travel, are included in the Here to There exhibition running now through mid-February. And you don’t need to go through security to see the artwork! (At left is "Speed," 18 x 24" collage with acrylic background on wood panel.)

Installations, located below the two bridges that cross the main terminal (behind the rental car kiosks), feature enlargements from the work of (left to right) Mary Williams, Ken Elliott, me, Carol Ann Waugh, and Victoria Eubanks.

Just making connections in Denver? You'll need to leave the secured concourses and head to the main terminal to see the work... a fun diversion, near a brewpub, if you have the time!

New perspectives: I arranged these intimately-scaled deep-panel collages as tabletop objects during my recent open studio event (thanks to those of you who stopped in!). Thought I'd share the remaining ones now as they make special holiday gifts. Each is about 2" deep with a hollow backside, wired for hanging. Great on a shelf or hanging on a wall. Get details and pricing on (front and clockwise) Float, Red Dot, Spiral, and Blue on my website. And let me know if you see something you can't live without—my inbox is always open.

Bits and pieces…

This fall I was honored to serve as one of three jury members to review submissions for the 30th Annual National Collage Society Exhibition. The 90 selected works present a great survey of what's happening in collage and are presented in “Greater than the Sum” at Metropolitan State University’s Center for Visual Art. Allow time to experiment in the gallery's collage-making studio... The exhibition, runs through January 24th. CVA Gallery is located at 965 Santa Fe Drive in Denver. I’m just back from a trip to New York to see the Matisse Cut-Outs exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. It’s fabulous show, wildly inspiring and on view through February 9th. Go if you can! Or check out MoMA’s website about the Cut-Outs, perhaps the next best thing to being there. Bonus: spending time with daughter, Kelsey, a ballet dancer based in NYC!

Now I’m working on new collages and looking forward to gathering with friends and family for the holidays... coming up fast!

I'm truly grateful for your interest in my work!
Janice
