Petite Collage Looms Large
as Performance Backdrop
Choreographer Patricia Renzetti visited my exhibition at Spark Gallery and was attracted to "Budding," a small, experimental collage work on paper. She immediately could visualize it as the background for a dance she was creating. I was enchanted with the idea of seeing the work really LARGE.
So we worked together to make it happen. Here is the collage projected on the set during the ballet, "Reflections," performed as part of the Eternal Dialogues multimedia choreography and dance project at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder, Colorado.
It struck me as funny that I'd proclaimed 2011 my year of working bigger... who knew?! It was a great experience and I hope to work on more collaborative projects in the future.

Bearden Collage Stamps
Check out collage legend Romare Bearden's artwork on the new US Postal Service forever stamps (always equal in value to the current First-Class Mail one-ounce rate). It's fun to use art-related stamps -- I see them as another "glued-on" element to embellish the daily mail. These days festive and/or intriguing stamps don't necessarily require standing in line at the post office, they're sold online too.
