CAA Conference, Paris - 22 - 25 April 2014
The Ariadne-related paper "Integration of Archaeological Datasets Through the Gradual Refinement of Models" was accepted for CAA 2014. The events "Hands-On Archaeological Conceptual Modelling 2",  "Modelling the Archaeological Process" which address similar topics, and an ARIADNE Workshop "Online Resources for Archaeological Research", will also take place at the conference.

ADS are organising a roundtable workshop at EAA 2014 in Istanbul in September.

As part of its Transnational Access (TNA) activities, the ARIADNE project is offering researchers the opportunity to apply to participate in three summer schools to carry forwards their own research. Read more...


Colleagues from Ã–AW and SRFG hosted a Workshop "Infrastructures and services for sharing of archaeological documentation" at CHNT  in Vienna 3-5 November. Full presentations are now available.

Incipit, CSIC, STARC, PIN and ICS-FORTH presented two papers on 5th September at EAA 2013, Plzeň. 

The first Training Workshop was also held at EAA and was attended by around 25 participants. Read more...

ARIADNE Gains Momentum

Since July, the ARIADNE Infrastructure Network has started several new activities and actively participated in meetings and events. A number of the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) have held their inaugural meetings and produced initial reports with more taking place in early 2014. An ARIADNE Workshop was organised at EAA and the first Trans-National Access call for 2014 has just been published with the ARIADNE Stakeholder survey being launched in November. 

Massive Response to ARIADNE Stakeholder Survey

ARIADNE launched a stakeholder survey on user requirements and current practices with regard to the access to research data in archaeology on the 21st November. Read more about the launch... The response has been very good, with over 1,000 click-throughs and 670 completed questionnaires. 

SENESCHAL Project Contributes LOD CH Thesauri & Vocabularies

SENESCHAL LogoDoug Tudhope of the Hypermedia Research Unit (University of Glamorgan) reports how the SENESCHAL Project has enabled some cultural heritage thesauri and vocabularies to become available as Linked Open Data. Read more...

ARIADNE Special Interest Groups (SIGs) Update

A number of the SIGs have held their initial meetings with others planned for the New Year. The Linked Data SIG and the 3D & Visualization SIG had their inaugural meetings at the EAA Conference, Pilsen and at CNR, Pisa respectively in September. The first meeting of the Remote Sensing and GIS SIG will take place in Dublin on the 29th January 2014.
The Grey Literature SIG,  Monument & Excavation Data SIG and Artefact Data SIG will hold their inaugural meetings in the early New Year.
