Dear Colleagues,

The new 2014 Tips campaign ads will begin running nationally beginning this Monday, July 7th for 9 weeks, ending September 7th.

Seven new, hard-hitting ads will launch across the United States on July 7th to highlight the harsh consequences of smoking and to prompt smokers to quit. Real people tell personal stories of illness and injury in the Tips ads. The new ads focus on conditions that have not been featured in previous ads, including severe gum disease, lung cancer, smoking during pregnancy and the health effects of smoking, combined with HIV.

The Tips campaign Web site CDC.gov/tips will be updated with the new ads, information and many new resources on Monday, July 7th.  

The Tips campaign state media buy sheets have been sent to all state program managers. If you have any questions, please contact your OSH Project Officer.

Below is a social media “Thunderclap” opportunity related to the launch of the Tips campaign that you can participate in if you sign up now (or before Monday).Tips From Former Smokers Thunderclap:

Participate in CDC’s Tips From Former Smokers Thunderclap by signing up TODAY. By signing up, Thunderclap will automatically send out the message below from your social media accounts on launch day (July 7). It’s a way to collectively make our voices louder and share our tobacco free message:

“New #CDCTips ads launch today. Get the motivation you need to quit smoking, visit cdc.gov/tips
For those of you not familiar with Thunderclap, it is an application that sends out the same social media message via Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr from multiple accounts. CDC needs at least 250 participants for the “thunderclap” to go out, so sign up today!
