Calling All Literary Translators!

We are hosting a gathering for anyone and everyone who is interested in literary translation this Saturday! Some of the past Singapore Apprenticeship in Literary Translation (SALT) apprentices will give short presentations, and we will share some of our upcoming 2023 programmes. 

There will be light refreshments too so come on down to meet fellow peers!

The six-month programme aims to provide professional guidance and support for your development, as you work on your manuscripts with your mentors in any of the four official languages. We hope to build a growing community of writers and translators who can support one another!

Singapore Apprenticeship in Literary Translation (SALT) invites you to our six-month apprenticeship with established writer, poet and translator Shelly Bryant!

Pick up insights from the literary translation field and hone your skills in interactive 1-to-1 sessions with Shelly. Get insight on the processes and steps needed to maximise your translation skills. The literary translation profession doesn't have to be daunting!

Young Writers Lab 2023: Create Your Own Storytelling Game!

Friday, 10 March 2023 | 9.00 am – 1.30 pm (SGT) | The Arts House | $35 (Admin & Ticketing fees apply) | Snacks will be provided

Suitable for students aged 14 to 18.


Build fantasy worlds and turn them into playable, interactive experiences at this year's Young Writers Lab. No writing experience needed!

Students will learn about the methods and processes of how TTRPG (tabletop role playing game) are crafted. They will workshop their own ideas and stories, and build a narrative to create storytelling games of their own.

This workshop will be conducted by Curious Chimeras whose design focus lies in immersive games for learning, teaching and communication.

Submit for BIG 2023! 

Submissions deadline: 29 January 2023
 

Submissions are now open for the 2023 Book Illustrators Gallery and we would like to see your best illustrative works created for children’s content! 

Selected works will be incorporated into a digital gallery for public viewing on the AFCC website and may also be included as part of a physical exhibition at AFCC from 25 - 28 May 2023. 

Selected illustrators will also receive a complimentary festival pass to AFCC 2023!
