SBC will be celebrating Math Paper Press' birthday this Saturday! 🎊🎂🎊

SBC Programmes Director, Carlo Pena will be moderating Wayne Reé’s book launch, Tales from a Tiny Room and our Programmes Manager, Shafienas Salleh will be part of the panel, In the TrenchesA ground-level look at the people who make SingLit happen.

Introduction to Storytelling I & II

If you are interested in storytelling, but don’t know where to start, these workshops are for you. In two 7-hour modules of hands-on training, you will gain a firm grounding in storytelling skills. You will leave with one ready-to-tell story and the tools and confidence to learn and tell more stories.

This workshop is conducted by well-established storyteller

What are the elements to good storytelling? Storyteller Sheila Wee explains how good storytelling can change the way people look at stories.
Telling Stories with Pictures

Learn how to tell a story using pictures, through understanding the basics of structure, art style, characters, layout, rhythm and visual symbolism. This workshop is ideal for illustrators (or anyone with basic drawing skills) to try their hands on creating a short, illustrated story.

This talk and workshop is conducted by Josef Lee, a Singaporean picture book writer-artist whose works have attracted the attention of various publishers in China and Taiwan.

Safe Space Stories
7, 14, 21, 28 July | 2:00pm – 5:00pm
SBC Training Room | $280

Safe Space Stories fosters a space for group writing in which all voices are equally heard and appreciated. It is a safe space to encourage creativity in writing, freedom from criticism, and affirmation of everyone’s voice.

This workshop is conducted by Paul Rozario-Falcone, a licensed facilitator for the Amherst Writers and Artists method, which builds a supportive, affirming group writing practice. He is based in Brooklyn, New York and Singapore.
