The Singapore Literature Prize is back!

52 works. 47 writers. 12 categories.

If you have a favourite writer, now is your chance to show some love for them! Vote for your favourite Chinese, English, Malay and Tamil shortlisted books so that they will be crowned the first-ever SLP Readers’ Favourite! Stand to win $50 in book vouchers from our official online bookstore if you vote for the winning books.

For the first time in the history of the Singapore Literature Prize (SLP), the awards ceremony will be taking place online and YOU are invited. Go to the Facebook event page and click on the “going” button to RSVP.


In the lead up to the ceremony, there will be a series of online #AthomewithSLP panel discussions as we get up close and personal with the writers. They will be livestreamed on our our Facebook page. Follow our Facebook and Instagram for updates and sneak peeks.

The pandemic has forced many of us into deep reflection, and there has been much discussion about the role of the arts during this time. What is the role of writers during a crisis? How can books and literature help us through all the disruptions?

Why are writers obsessed with the theme of home? Vexing, heartwarming, frustrating, proud. How do they work through their often contradictory feelings about home in their own works?

SBC Academy: Our workshops are eligible for the CDSA grant!

This is your last chance to apply for the CDSA grant, with the application window closing in July! All our upcoming workshops including Adapting Stories for Performance by Jean Tay, Drawing for a Living by Debasmita Dasgupta and The Final Steps: Literary Translation Workshop by Shelly Bryant and Anya Goncharova are eligible for the CDSA grant.

You will be reimbursed for your course fees even if the courses take place after July, but you have to submit your application for the CDSA grant by 31 July.

 The Art of Adaptation: A Virtual Public Talk

Featuring facilitators from AFTRS, local production company August Media and Adan Jimenez, this one-hour talk is free and will be live-streamed on AFCC's Facebook page.

Learn how the novel 17A Keong Saik Road was brought from page to stage as a dramatised reading, from the perspectives of the different creative members involved like Woo Hsia Ling, Jean Tay, Koh Hui Ling and Charmaine Leung!

In this panel discussion, you will find out more about the process of adapting a literary text to a dramatised form and the challenges of bringing the text back to its dialect roots for a new audience.
