Hello Friend

Happy New Year!

With the fury of activity that 2016 left behind us, it's a great joy to be welcoming in 2017 the year of the Rooster by the way!

The new year brings a positive start, with many of us writing up our goals, quitting bad habits and getting out to the gym a little more often. It’s a fresh start, after all we have the whole year ahead of us!

What’s on your list? Is there something specific you want to accomplish? If your goals have anything to do with your home, then, as your Realtor, there’s a lot that I can do to help.

Give me a call, if you're interested in finding out what the value of your home is in today’s market, or if you'd like to know what your neighbor sold for, I can answer those questions and more.

It's a brand new year, and with a new year comes the fresh excitement of infinite possibility.

A new year is like a blank book, and the pen is in your hands. It is your chance to write a beautiful story for yourself.

Let’s make 2017 the best year ever!

Record-setting year for Fraser Valley real estate

Fraser Valley real estate experienced the strongest year in its history in 2016, with record-setting numbers seen in both total MLS® transactions and overall dollar volume sold.

The Board’s Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) processed 23,974 sales in 2016, 13.6 per cent more than the 21,095 sales in 2015, and 12.6 per cent more than the previous record of 21,282 sales in 2005. The total dollar volume of MLS® sales was a record setting $16.2 billion, four billion more than the previous record set in 2015.

Of the total transactions for the year, 5,369 were townhouses sold and 5,069 were apartments, the highest each category has reached in the Board’s history.

Charles Wiebe, President of the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board, attributes this year’s extraordinary market activity to a strong provincial economy and the diverse inventory available to consumers entering the Valley. “Our region boasts a vast range of homes available at all price points, which made it a very enticing option for buyers of all types last year.”

6 Quick Ways to Give a Room a New Look

A new year is a perfect chance to make changes in your life, to start something new. Many people begin diets or exercise regimes at this time of your, but there is another way to change things up in your life: your home decor.

While redecorating completely might be a little daunting, there are some smaller things you can do to change the look and feel of a room. If it’s time for a change in your home, try one of these ways to refresh your decor.

Get a new rug – It’s easy not to notice what you are walking on but adding or switching a run can make a big difference. Different colours, patterns and textures all give a room a different feel.

Move things around – If you keep everything exactly same but just rearrange the placements, it will still make a big difference to the room’s overall impression.

Add a dimmer to your lighting – A change in lighting instantly changes the mood. Adding a dimmer allows you to control that mood as you please. Turn it up when practical, or turn it down for a cozy evening.

Hang different pictures – Switch up your wall art. Use different frames and a different arrangement to alter the overall look of a room. You can also switch from art prints to family photographs or vice versa.

Buy some (different) knick knacks – Add a few carefully chosen objects to coffee or side tables. If you already have some, switch them out for new ones. You don’t have to throw out the old ones — you can start rotating or use them in another room.

Get new curtains – In general, fabrics are an easy way to change up a room. Lighter, darker, brighter, simpler — however you choose to go, a new pair of curtains will have a big impact. Sticking with fabrics, a new throw for your couch will have a similar effect.
