The West Colfax
Association of Neighbors (WeCAN) 
is the Registered Neighborhood Organization (RNO) for the neighbors who live or own property in the West Colfax neighborhood.
WeCAN meets the second Tuesday of every month, 6:00pm, in the main hall of the Confluence Ministries building, 1400 Quitman Street.

Bringing Neighbors Together to Build Community
Back from Summer Break and Ready for a New School Year!
 
Dear Friends and Neighbors, 

WeCAN is back from summer break and ready to get back to work bringing neighbors together to build community. Denver Public Schools is also back from summer break this month; classes resume Monday, August 20. Please SLOW DOWN for our students in school zones, especially at the intersections of Colfax & Irving and Colfax & Tennyson where the two elementary schools are.
 

WeCAN is bringing the West Colfax neighborhood elementary school leadership to our August 14 General Meeting. This will be a chance to meet the schools' principals and ask them questions about their school. More information below in 'Next WeCAN General Meeting.'

Local Elementary Schools
 
WeCAN will once again be collecting school supplies at the August 14 General meeting.

Please bring your donations to the meeting and WeCAN will distribute them to the schools.
 
Next WeCAN General Meeting
Tuesday, August 14, 6:00-7:00pm

 

6:00-6:10pm: Our Denver Police District 1 Community Resource Officer, Bob Anderson, always starts our meeting by sharing recent crime statistics for the area, crime prevention tips, and is available to answer all your questions and concerns regarding happenings in the neighborhood.
 

6:10-6:15pm: WeCAN AnnouncementsWeCAN is run on 100% volunteer power! All Board of Directors and Committee Members meet regularly to plan events, put general meetings together, and so much more; all on top of their full-time jobs, families, and other commitments. Consider joining the WeCAN Leadership to ensure WeCAN thrives in the future.

WeCAN could use some help in the following areas, please reach out to admin@wecandenver.org if you'd like to get involved in your community.
 
            

6:15-6:35: West Colfax School Leadership: Come learn about the West Colfax neighborhood elementary schools! Ask your questions and learn about volunteer opportunities.
6:35-6:45pm: Chris Spelke from Denver Housing Authority on The Vida at Sloan's Lake at Colfax & Perry St. This property will consist of 175 low-income restricted units for senior/disabled persons with approximately 28,000 sf of commercial space. Get an update and timeline at the August 14th meeting.


6:45-6:55pm: Troy and Jennifer Reynolds, owners of Brew Culture Coffee.  From the owners; "We are excited to be in our final phase of opening. Our build out is complete and upon final inspection's we plan on opening very soon. We are excited to be a part of your neighborhood and community, offering specialty coffee and kombucha." 
***Samples of Sweet Bloom cold brew coffee will be available at the meeting!***
