WeCAN needs YOU: Come out for the annual West Colfax Clean-Up Day October 7th

Saturday, October 7th 9:00 AM.
Meet at Confluence Ministries, 1400 Quitman St.
Dear Friends and Neighbors,

All neighbors are invited to join with WeCAN, Confluence Ministries and Extreme Community Makeover in a clean-up day in the West Colfax neighborhood. This bi-annual event is a great way to partner with your neighbors to:
  • complete exterior home repair or improvement projects for a neighbor in need
  • clean up the local school gardens of Cheltenham Elementary and Colfax Elementary
  • clean up trash on the streets and alleys
  • remove graffiti
  • build new relationships and make connections with your West Colfax neighbors
Lunch will be provided. Projects are generally completed by 2:30p, but you can come for a half day. Children of all ages are welcome to come with an adult willing to work with and supervise them.

Please RSVP to Diana Dietvorst at 303-550-9853 or to volunteer for the day, or sign-up on the Facebook Event page.

Kind Regards,

Nadia Hafeez Patrick & Leah Rounds

Denver Police District 1 PUPS on PATROL

PUPS on PATROL a great way for residents and their four-legged friends to help local law enforcement on their daily walks through the community. Participants in the Pups on Patrol program are trained to identify suspicious behavior like seeing someone attempting to open car doors along neighborhood streets, someone trespassing behind building/houses or cars driving around with their lights off after dark and know they should make a call to 911 or our non-emergency line.

To be included in the program, participants need to attend the one-hour training class. The one-hour training class is designed to help increase awareness of suspicious behavior or activity and determine what should be reported to police. Dog guardians/owners who attend training (dogs can stay home) are presented with a certificate signed by Denver Police Chief Robert White, along with a special Honorary Denver Police K-9 neckerchief for their four-legged companion(s) to wear.

The next class is Monday, October 23, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the District 1 station, 1311 W. 46th Ave. If you'd like to attend please RSVP to Officer Robert Gibbs:
