Association of Neighbors (WeCAN) 
is the Registered Neighborhood Organization (RNO) for the neighbors who live, work, or own property in the West Colfax neighborhood.
WeCAN meets the second Tuesday of every month, 6:00pm, in the main hall of the Confluence Ministries building, 1400 Quitman Street.

Bringing Neighbors Together to Build Community
Spring Social and Sustainability Events
 
Dear Friends and Neighbors, 

The weather is getting warmer and WeCAN is getting ready for some fun sustainability and social events this spring. Mark your calendars for these volunteers opportunities and social events coming up in West Colfax.
  • WeCAN Tree Planting Day - Saturday, April 21, 9:00am. Come plant trees in your neighborhood with your neighbors! This annual volunteer event continues to spread the tree canopy and beautify West Colfax.
  • WeCAN & FattE Bikes Demonstration Day - Thursday, April 26, 4:30pm Seedstock Brewery. Try out an electric bike with us and your neighbors. The FattE Bikes crew will be there to help out and answer all your questions.
  • West Colfax Clean-Up Day - Saturday, May 19, 9:00am. Another bi-annual event for WeCAN, join your neighbors for a day of cleaning up West Colfax. Projects will include alley clean up, graffiti removal, and helping neighbors with exterior home improvement projects.

WeCAN General Meeting - April 10
 
Denver Police District 1 Community Resource Officer, Bob Anderson, always starts our meeting by sharing recent crime statistics for the area, crime prevention tips, and is available to answer all your questions and concerns regarding happenings in the neighborhood.


FattE Bikesmission is less about biking more and more about driving less. FattE-bikes sees Fat Tire E-Bikes as real means of transportation. Whether you are commuting 5-10 miles, going to the grocery store, having a night out, or taking your children to school the fat tire e-bike is an efficient, eco friendly and reliable form of transportation. Come learn more at our April 10th General Meeting
 
WeCAN Announcements his month:
  • Just in time for Earth Week, WeCAN & FattE-bikes is hosting a E-bike Demonstration Day! Thursday, April 26, 4:30-6:30pm @Seedstock Brewery. Try an electric bike and hang out with some of your West Colfax neighbors. Look for more information on this event in your inbox later this month.
  • WeCAN Tree Planting Day - April 21 and WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Come to the April 10 meeting to learn how to get involved, contact Dave@wecandenver.org, and stay tuned to your inbox for more information on this upcoming event.
  • West Colfax Clean-up Day - May 19. Do you have a neighbor who could use some help on the outside of their home? Please contact Diana at 303-550-9853 or Diana@wecandenver.org to discuss projects and get registered for the day.

Fluid Market is a community sharing app that allows people to rent things to each other. From pick-up trucks, to large moving vans, your community has what you need.  Fluid Market's vision is to organize community resources, empower community sharing, and reduce consumption. Now, everyone has a friend with a truck! Andrew Rowe was scheduled be at our March 13 meeting, but will be at our April 10th meeting to share information on how to get involved and answer your questions.
 

Starboard Realty will be presenting on a rezoning proposal at 1602-1680 Sheridan Blvd.  The five property owners that own all the property along the east side of Sheridan from 16th Ave to 17th Ave are proposing to rezone their property to G-MS-5.  This effort will include working with the City to dedicate an additional 16' of Right of Way for Sheridan Blvd. so that an 8' Treelawn and an 8' detached sidewalk can be achieved.
