Dear Andrew,

Hello. Sending on my hearty recommendation to come and participate in this workshop given by Andrew Dawson.

I met Andrew several years ago when he was here performing at UCLA live. I was struck by the simple profundity of his physical work. He is able to communicate specificity and nuance through the physical body…making the invisible visible. And as I discovered, he also knows how to teach us how to explore that for ourselves.

His work is a strong companion to ours and I do encourage you to come check it out. His visit this time will focus on physically creating character. For actors, come with something you're working on or find it in the room. Other artists can use this time to explore your inner work, using the character of your younger or older self.

As always, space is limited due to nature of the work. Let us know if you would like us to hold a spot for you.

He will also be available for private sessions during his short time in LA. Ask if you would like to know more...

Hope this finds you well and with time to enjoy the spring.

With my respect and care,
Kim

Flesh on Your Bones
Developing 3-Dimensional Character

2 Day Workshop with Andrew Dawson

A workshop for any actor who wants to discover the physicality of a character; offering the tools that will help them access that physicality through choices in their own body.

Using the Feldenkrais Method we will look for a subtle, gentle, yet physically insightful exploration of your own skeleton enhancing your ability to inhabit character.

How do we recognize a person’s character? Is it just their posture, their walk or their movement? How do we perceive their internal rhythm, and the essence they evoke?

This workshop is about uncovering the layers of character, beyond merely visual representation. We aim to discover the character within three dimensions, adding the flesh around your bones.

Andrew Dawson is a London UK based theatre artist, director, performer and Feldenkrais Practitioner. He has worked in theatre for 30 years creating his own work. He was movement director on Dr Atomic at the MET and recently with Handspring puppets (who created War Horse) on A Midsummer Nights Dream. Funded by Wellcome Trust he created ‘The Articulate Hand’. He has given 3 talks for TEDMED.
