Dear <<First Name>>

If you are a member of the Labour Campaign for Free Speech, we hope you will attend our second all-members' meeting of our campaign on Wednesday June 30. And if you are not yet a member, we hope you will join so that you may attend!

Wednesday's meeting will be chaired by
Jackie Walker and focus on the important question if free speech should be unrestricted or if there are exceptions, for example for 'racists' or 'fascists'. Should we campaign to stop them from speaking? Or might we even consider inviting them to discuss various issues and, if so, under what circumstances? And what does this mean when it comes to confronting racists on the streets? And who decides who is a racist or a fascist?

At our launch conference in February 2021, we amended the first point of our ‘Charter for Free Speech’ with two irreconcilable amendments. We now want to discuss which of the two amendments should be deleted. That does not mean that the debate on this issue is ‘over’ or ‘settled’ - but we need to have a working document without internal contradictions. Tony Greenstein and Kevin Bean represent both sides of this important debate and you can read their supporting arguments here.

  • All existing members of the campaign
should now have received the full agenda with all motions and their Zoom registration link. Please let us know if you think you are a member but have not received the documents. You can check your membership status here (login with your email address)
  • New members may attend if they join before June 29.
They will automatically receive a Zoom link for the meeting, which includes the full interactive agenda and standing orders. You can join here.

Make your voice heard on July 20:
Come to London to protest the NEC

Have you been affected by the ongoing assault on democracy in the Labour Party?  Have you been unfairly suspended, expelled or deprived of a voice in your local party?

Or are you just appalled with what’s going on and want it all to end?

Make a date to come to London on July 20 when we will be mounting a public lobby of the NEC to call for the restoration of the whip to Jeremy Corbyn and the reinstatement of unfairly suspended members.

Leading our demo will be the two suspended CLPs of East Ham and West Ham. Left groups in support include Labour Against The Witchhunt, Labour Campaign For Free Speech, Labour Left Alliance and Labour In Exile Network.

If you want to come and state your case at the lobby email us on .

Otherwise just turn up and make your voice heard. We need to spotlight this huge injustice.

The protest-lobby starts at 12 noon on Tuesday 20 July outside Labour Party Head Office, 105 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6QT. Nearest tube/station: Victoria.

In September in Brighton at the Labour Party conference fringe, left-wing groups are teaming up to organise a special three day festival at the city’s Rialto Theatre called Resist, 26-28 September.

If you are coming to the Labour Party conference in Brighton in September 2021 – as a delegate or visitor, or just staying at home watching on Zoom – this is your opportunity to be part of the discussion about how socialists continue to fight for real change. Watch the video with Jackie Walker, who explains what this event is all about!
