Tours and Baby Goat Experiences

March is here and that means you can once again schedule Farm Tours and Baby Goat Experiences.  During the farm tour, you get to visit all our buildings and see what we do.  You'll also see the goat barns and meet the goats for a few minutes.

Many people choose to follow their Farm Tour with a Baby Goat Experience where you can spend 25 minutes in the baby goat pen surrounded by baby goats.
Please schedule your tour and experience before you get to the farm - if it's not scheduled, we can't guarantee that we'll have a tour guide available, and we want to make sure you can see the goats!

If you're unable to visit us in Scottsburg, Indiana, you can follow us on our Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for all the baby goat pictures your heart could desire! We use hashtag #gmskids to chronicle our kidding season each year.  We also update our Kidding Schedule page with the record of the births.

Toiletry Bag

For those of you who would never consider leaving home without your Goat Milk Stuff, we now have a toiletry bag available.

It has organizer pockets inside and measures 4"W x 6"H x 10"L.

Sweet Shop

We're super excited to announce that now that the goats are milking again, the Sweet Shop is now open!

We have a new parking lot so you can pull up to either the Farm Store or the Sweet Shop.

The Sweet Shop contains all our candies such as caramel, fudge, toffee, and chocolates. We also have baked goods such as cookies, cupcakes, and dipped pretzels and marshmallows.

There is also milk, chocolate milk, and drinkable yogurt.

And don't forget all of our goat milk cheeses.

Goat Cheeses

And gelato!

Goat Milk Gelato

We also have picnic tables where you can enjoy your sweets while you watch the goats.

So whether you're local, or just passing through, check out the Sweet Shop, and say hello to the goats (and us).

March Hours

During the month of March, we are maintaining the same hours for the Farm Store and Sweet Shop.  These are: Monday - Friday from 8am to 5pm and Saturdays from 8am to 4pm.  We are closed on Sundays.

Congratulations to Laura Davidson who won the February giveaway!

Newsletter Special

We used most of the goat milk from November to make cheese.  That chevre was frozen for winter use while the feta has been aging in brine.  Now that the winter is over and we have a fresh milk supply, we are marking down the remainder of the 2016 cheese 50%.

Discounted Cheese Special!

You can get an 8 pack of cheese shipped to you for only $60.  You must order it from this link (and not the regular link): Discounted Goat Cheese

You can mix and match the types of cheese between the different chevres and fetas.  The cheese can be re-frozen if you are not going to eat it within a few weeks.

Kidding Season

We're in the middle of Kidding Season, which means that we have baby goats everywhere! We've already had 120 babies born, and we're anticipating that we'll reach over 140 of them by the time we're done.

If you're interested in coming out to the farm to see them, make sure you schedule a Farm Tour or Baby Goat ExperienceWe'd love to see you, and so would the babies!

And as always, follow us on our Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for all the baby goat pictures your heart could desire!

Homestead Happenings

February was a complete blur with 120 baby goats born in less than 28 days. Everyone is running a little short on sleep, cooked meals are on the endangered list, and all we're thinking about is how long we have until the next goat goes into labor.

Thankfully, the goats have been good, and we've only had a few days where we were super busy. For the most part, it's been one or two births a day, which is much more manageable.

While most of our month has been spent delivering babies, we've also been doing the day to day work of the business, keeping the farm store open, cleaning stalls, working on fencing projects, and more. There's never a dull moment around here!

Despite the exhaustion, we wouldn't have it any other way. We love kidding season like no other and are thrilled with every new baby, and the new flow of fresh milk that accompanies it! God certainly knew what he was doing when he timed so much renewal just before "Spring, Spring, Spring!" (One of our favorite songs from one of our favorite musicals, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.)

For those of you living in colder regions we are happy to report that our unusually warm temperatures have brought some welcome sights from Emery's flower garden!

With the crocus and daffodil blooms and the budding of the plum trees we'll turn our attention to early planting in the garden- well, at least between goat births.

And despite all of the work, we're still finding plenty of time to have fun. With the construction of our new parking lot, the children have had plenty of rock and mud piles to climb on, providing lots of reasons for them to play hard, get dirty, and use good soap. ;)

We appreciate your prayers for healthy babies, mamas, and sufficient sleep for the Jonases!
As always, we thank you so much for all of your support of our family and our business!
