Welcome to the first issue of the CNCAC Newsletter of 2012. The CNCAC team is in the process of implementing new programs, and is recruiting new members for the Board of Directors. We are particularly interested in inviting applicants who will support our Mission and Vision, but who also have skills and experience that will complement the current Board. If you have a first-class expertise in arts, culture, finance, accounting, business operation, law or marketing, and would like to make a difference to Canada's arts and culture scene and to new Canadian artists and arts professionals, consider joining. Please email us a cover letter and CV before February 29.
The CNCAC team
How would you describe your experience as a New Canadian Artist?
I would describe my personal experience as a constant knocking on galleries heaven’s doors in an attempt to establish myself as a professional artist in Canada, who was worth to deal with; and who would later realize that there is no heavens behind those doors, but rather a pure business. Nevertheless, this experience is always ultimately justified and is well worth to explore further, since it is about self-awareness, the art and all the wonderful people I was lucky to meet on this life long journey.
What would you have liked to know when you arrived in Canada?
I would have liked to know how to learn 5,000 English and French words as quickly as possible without bothering friends and simply ordinary people that happened to be around at the time of my language insufficiency. And also the list of all local art organizations with addresses and contact information – just to say “hello”. website
