APSIA Facebook Live: Professional Development While in Graduate School 

On August 11, 2021, APSIA hosted a Facebook Live event with Dr. Henry Schwalbenberg of Fordham University to discuss professional development for students in graduate school.

The 30-minute presentation covered various tips for graduate students hoping to expand and improve their skills and better prepare for life after graduation.

Dr. Schwalbenberg offered invaluable advice based on the experiences and recommendations of his former students, highlighting specific internship opportunities and speaking to the mindset of potential future employers.

Alumna Spotlight: Clara Summers

Clara Summers graduated from American University’s School of International Service with an MA in International Peace and Conflict Resolution and a Graduate Certificate in Environment, Peace, and Conflict Resolution. Clara serves as the Climate & Energy Manager for the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators (NCEL).

Her portfolio includes the power sector writ large (e.g. renewable energy and efficiency), transportation, land use, climate resilience, and a just transition. Having spent part of her childhood and adulthood in Indonesia, Clara has witnessed firsthand the cumulative and ongoing impacts of climate change.
