I have developed a tutorial called "Graduated Background Blur" using Photoshop CS6. If you are interested in reading this tutorial you can find it on my website: click Presentations.

Also I will be posting a piece on my experience in photographing birds in flight, one of the most challenging aspects of wildlife photography. It will be posted to my blog in next few weeks. Stay tuned.

Fall/Winter 2013 Newsletter

Our second and most exciting road trip from Denver to Denali took place in June and July. We experienced the summer solstice in Denali, newborn wildlife and a gazillion mosquitoes. We braved the Alaska state bird and found that head-nets came in very handy. To view the image gallery click:

Fall Foliage in the San Juan Mountains
I have always felt that nothing could compare to the dramatic fall foliage colors of New England. After all, thousands of people would descend on Boston from around the world, just to drive up thru Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine by the busload to see the red, orange, and yellow foliage at its peak. Well, my smug attitude was turned upside down when I experienced the golden colors of the aspens under the snowy white mountain peaks in the San Juan mountains of Colorado.

San Juans for County Road 5
We camped out for a week in the Ridgeway, Colorado area in our RV photographing the fall colors that surrounded us. We even waited for a snowstorm to pass thru in the hope that it would bring new snow to the area. Well, it did, along with muddy, rutted, county dirt roads that trapped our vehicle in snow and mud for hours while the photo opportunity came and went. This is a story for another time. I did manage to get a few keepers.
