As we move toward new horizons and far directions, leaping like jungle monkeys from tall trees into our new forever home, we would like to screech our appreciation for your presence at the Lamington Drive Bakesale over the weekend. Wouldn't have been a party without you, Mowgli. We've compiled the greatest hits from the last week for you as special thanks with the assistance of our opposing thumbs, binocular vision and large unwieldy brains. Emma Leonard won our hearts through visual storytelling on a Pozible campaign, Good Wives & Warriors created a huge apocalyptic mural in Berlin, Kat Chadwick helped illustrate Bell Shakespeare's 2014 program, and Shere Khan attacked the encampment... wait, no, that's part of the plot of The Jungle Book. Ahem! Now if you'll excuse us, we have to go separate a certain Italian Greyhound from Baloo the bear. See you in our new jungle home. Love always - jw.
The most gorgeous bout of visual storytelling you're ever likely to see awaits you after the jump. Emma Leonard used her creative know-how to illustrate the history of vintage and contemporary clothing store Dear Gladys. The store funds a quarter of Fitted For Work's programs and hopes to fund even more through their current Pozible campaign. The promotional video is lush and filled with Emma's illustrations. Donations can be as little as $1 and all proceeds and profits from sales go directly toward helping women step out of disadvantage and into work programs. The campaign runs for 17 more days and it's already over halfway to the $27,000 target. Get to it guys, you know what to do.
Emma Leonard for Dear Gladys
Nov 18, 2013 09:24 am
Fashion illustrator extraordinaire Emma Leonard recently lent her original touch to Northcote vintage and contemporary fashion store, Dear Gladys. The store works alongside Fitted For Work to help disadvantaged women get back into the workforce, and Emma was filmed creating these gorgeous illustrations to help tell the story of Dear Gladys. Earlier this year, Jacky Winter partnered with Fitted For Work for the MGPO True Self Exhibition and we strongly encourage you to check out Dear Gladys’ Pozible campaign. Anything’s possible with the support of a community, and it’s a beautifully worthy cause. Dear Gladys’ Pozible campaign is open for donations until December 5th.
Kat Chadwick just did a lovely little commission with Chris Doyle & Co for Bell Shakespeare’s 2014 season. Together, they conjured up four hero images to represent all four of the 2014 theatre productions, as well as a lot of accompanying alphabet icons and hand lettered text. There’s even a cute little ‘Behind-the-Seen’ promo video below for aspiring thespians and Shakespeare devotees.
And that's your lot for this week. Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodbye til it be morrow,
