We were hanging out under the shade of a coolabah tree over the weekend, listening to the sweet call of a spry Jacky Winter bird, when we realised spring has sprung. Time to feel slightly too warm in your jeans and eat rainbow Paddle Pops. We also decree it a time to get more art in your fair face and forgo the rat-race. Our friendly roster of artists can get you started - check out these amazing projects they've been up to! Jesse Marlow captured the Impossible Orchestra in photographs, Toby & Pete got together with Vaughan Flanagan to make Kraft Mac & Cheese cool again, Vaughan Flanagan went on to create some faintly apocalyptic album artwork for indie band Boy & Bear, and we revealed some of the cheesier moments of Field Trip Sydney. Hey, we said "cheesy", not "sleazy"! Get your mind out of the gutter and go frolic in the park. We'll be right with you as soon as we've figured our way out of this rainbow Paddle Pop haze. Love always - jw.
Vaughan Flanagan illustrated the album artwork for Boy & Bear’s sophomore release, ‘Harlequin Dream’, and the posters and iTunes ads are everywhere. We're calling it now - Vaughan's beautiful artwork must be at least a little smidgen responsible for the album's success.
This one time at Field Trip…

Last week, our bright-eyed producer Charlotte and bagel-lovin’ director Jeremy set off for Field Trip Sydney, our infamous creative extravaganza featuring JW artists, live presentations, panel discussions and goodie bags. If you’ve been living under a rock (and hey, we don’t judge anyone), Sydney’s line-up this year included: Chris Nielsen, Georgia Perry, Kate Banazi, We Buy Your Kids, Heath Killen and Dave Foster. These are six multi-disciplinary creative professionals at the peak of their game and the whole day (not to mention the After Party!) was phenomenal.
Wonderlick Entertainment, who manage Sydney’s Boy & Bear, recently commissioned Vaughan Flanagan to illustrate the album artwork for the band’s sophomore release, ‘Harlequin Dream’. The album is currently sitting pretty at #5 after reaching #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart last week and Vaughan’s artwork has been rolled out over posters, iTunes, postcards and media releases to promote the album release and the band’s upcoming tour. Remember, ‘Boy & Bear is happy. Boy & Bear is tambourine. Boy & Bear is good for you’… just like Vaughan Flanagan.
Toby & Pete and Vaughan Flanagan for Kraft Mac & Cheese
Sep 04, 2013 02:51 pm
Multidisciplinary studio Toby & Pete got “new-stalgic” for Kraft’s Mac & Cheese revival campaign thanks to Crispin Porter + Bogusky. For over 75 years, Kraft’s Mac & Cheese has been an American favourite, and Toby & Pete produced a suite of images for their online time machine. The faux vintage advertisement featured below called for the use of a stunt donkey while others led Toby & Pete to commission our very own Vaughan Flanagan to illustrate a cheese moon and a ravenous buffalo about to chomp down on a bowl of cheesy goodness. We’re hungry. Snack time?
Jesse Marlow was commissioned to shoot the Impossible Orchestra for Care Aware last October – an initiative where musicians played continuously for a 24 hour period. The aim was to raise awareness of and appreciation for unpaid carers in our community. McCann Agency have now released a book of Jesse’s beautiful photos titled ’24 Hour Campaign’, which shows his consummate skill at conducting himself behind a camera. Ha, ha. Oh my. Our puns are getting worse.
