Hey guys! We found an Amex! It's all shiny and platinum! It looks just like the kind of design our artist Justin Maller would devise - he's super good at creating digital art, and collaborates with lots of international clients, including... ohh... American Express. I guess we won't be using this card to book that holiday to Barbados, then *gnashes teeth, wails dramatically, begins starting small fires, births a colony of live screaming squirrels, fires lasers from eyes* Nice work, Justin.
Kelly Thompson for Remix Magazine New Zealand

Kelly Thompson recently finished this portrait of singer Kimbra for Remix Magazine New Zealand. You know Kimbra, right? She’s one half of Somebody That You Used To Know? (Sorry. Couldn’t resist. Won’t do it again). The mag is out now. And, on a completely unrelated note, how instantly recognisable is this as a Kelly Thompson illustration? Wowsers. She just gets better and better.
The glorious Emma Leonard was commissioned by Bashful Sydney to create an illustration for Goldwell’s Elumen Color. Instead of using watercolour, Emma used a box of the Elumen Colour to create the wonderfully whimsical illustration above. Emma was then flown to Sydney to re-create the illustration on camera for a Goldwell video to market the product. Look out for the final print poster in salons around Australia and check out our golden girl’s video below – it’s amazing.
Paul Shipper created this illustration as a fold-out poster in a magazine for the New Zealand Defence Force via Saatchi & Saatchi NZ. It’s intended to appeal to people who like to take part in things and tackle challenges bigger than themselves … that’s you, right? Stunning work, as always, from Paul.
American Express (Amex) is collaborating with international artists to produce new interpretations of their card designs, and our artist Justin Maller is one of them. He created a kaleidoscopic interpretation of the Green Card, a honey-hued interpretation of the Gold Card and a shard-smattered interpretation of the Platinum Card. Which one is your favourite? And does this C F Frost character know his cards are missing?
And that's your lot for this week. Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodbye til it be morrow,
