Cranberry, mint and mango lip balm? Personally, we're thinking the cranberry. What do you reckon? Craig & Karl have created some luscious, limited edition packaging for skincare guru Kiehl's and it's teeming with graphic quirk and bold NYC style. It's a definite case of 'one for you, one for me', and bound to jump off the shelves. Get down to your local apothecary store and treat yourself. You'll need a gorgeous breath of vector life in the thick smog of holiday stress.
Shooting to the top of our Christmas wishlist, we’ve got serious retail lust for this capsule collection by Craig & Karl for Kiehl’s. Kiehl’s is known for its annual artist collaborations – they’ve previously done collections with Jeff Koons, KAWS and Eric Haze – and Craig & Karl’s signature bright colours and bold graphic patterns can now be seen on gift boxes, Kiehl’s iconic Creme de Corps bottle and Kiehl’s lip balms this holiday season. Personally, we’re loving the fact that all proceeds from sales go to charity, and that all products are formulated from naturally-derived ingredients. Happy shopping!
Okay, so in the wake of the Melbourne Cup, horse-racing may be a little controversial but we just have to share this realistic 3D model of a thoroughbred racehorse built by Forge & Morrow. It can be adjusted to recreate the biometric measurements of any given racehorse – the avatar technology has, at this stage, been used to render around 1,890 images of racehorses.
The racehorse project has been about six months in the making. A patent was filed in October and, pre-Melbourne Cup, the images were licensed out to a form guide website to use for the event. In the images below, you can see the intricacies of the model and where the controls adjust.
The main aim of the avatars is to be able to compare racehorses in terms of confirmation: while it would be an impossible task to line up every racehorse in exactly the same pose under exactly the same lighting conditions, this avatar allows users to do exactly that. In the very near future, users will be able to overlay the avatars to compare racehorse’s physiques and/or compare them to horse-racing greats like Black Caviar. The final image below shows how this may look in implementation.

Okay, we know we say this about all our artists but, don’t you just want to be Lauren Bamford?
And that's your lot for this week. Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodbye til it be morrow,
