In case you didn't know, Beci Orpin's new book, 'Home', was published by Hardie Grant and released on Friday. In fact, they're so impressed with the book that they're hosting a special book signing event on November 24th at 11.00am. Click here to read all about it!
Steve Scott for ‘The Great Gran and Grampout’
Nov 04, 2013 02:19 pm
Zing! It’s Aerogard’s 50th year of protecting ordinary Aussies from mozzie bites and they asked Steve Scott to create the illustration for their anniversary event. ‘The Great Gran and Grampout’ is a one-night celebration staged at Sydney’s Cockatoo Island with Australians of all ages camped out in the great outdoors. With over 270 species of mosquitoes buzzing through our country, we encourage you to go gramping in your backyard even if you can’t make it to Sydney! Register here.
The extremely talented and charismatic Karan Singh is selling hot and tasty screenprints in his online shop now! ’Forbidden Fruit’, above, is created from Stonehenge uncoated stock and measures in at 18 inches x 24 inches. Limited edition of 25, guys, and definitely the most lucid-lookin’ fruit you’ll ever see near your kitchen. Also keep an eye out for ‘Pivot’, a modular display typeface created in two weights; Regular and Deco. Like ‘Magnum’ in Zoolander, it’s so cool it’s not even ready to be released into the wild yet.
Telstra and R/GA Sydney recently put together a massive Jon Bon Jovi No. 1 Fan competition. Fans were asked to submit a range of questions for the rocker, and after selecting the best five, RG/A enlisted five JW artists to visually interpret these questions. Benjamin Constantine, Mimi Leung, Christopher Nielsen, Guy Shield and Soft Science all participated and created these amazing images within approximately two and a half days (!). Telstra published each piece of rockart along with its accompanying question on their Facebook page and now the outcome of the competition is up to the public. The image with the most *likes* by 4pm on Monday will win one of the finalists the opportunity to ask Jon Bon Jovi their question in the flesh.* Cast your vote via Facebook here!
*Nudity or fleshiness of Jon Bon Jovi not guaranteed.
Kelly Thompson landed the covetable role of guest illustrator for Hitched Issue 3. Following in the fine footsteps of Emma Leonard for Issue 1 and Rik Lee for Issue 2, Kelly magicked up this lush rendition of ‘The Owl & The Pussycat’ for the front cover. She also illustrated a feature on the legendary Marie Antoinette, Cleopatra and Bloody Mary, a story called ‘A Cuppa with Holly Hipwell’, and a special feature on couture. Hitched is hands-down the hippest magazine for brides in the country, and quite possibly the world. Nab a copy at your local newsagents from October 3rd or order online throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Canada, Dubai, the UK and the US.
