This week is already out of the stalls and streaking towards midday so get ready for us to nag you (yep, that's a horse pun) about all the cool art stuff you should be checking out. First of all, we've welcomed a new photographer into the SEA stable and her name is Mia Mala McDonald. Second of all, we've got three full gallery days left before Adventures to the Heart of the Universe is uninstalled and we have it on good authority that if you don't come to check it out, you'll be doomed to live an unhappy life full of white-bread sandwiches and ne'er a purple fanged fish to worship you. Thirdly, Bobby Haiqalsyah, has been featured on The Design Kids, and Grace Lee and Flutter were featured on Desktop Mag: both articles make for fascinating reading. Oh, and did we tell you that Andrew Archer and Neryl Walker have new work available online? Love always - jw.
Becky and Louise are the two lovely ladies behind Good Wives and Warriors and together they have created this beautiful illustration for New Scientist. It accompanies an article on synthetic biology, and shows the girls working at their creative 'n collaborative best. Long may their creative partnership prosper!
Good Wives and Warriors for New Scientist
Jun 02, 2014 10:30 am
Good Wives and Warriors recently completed one of their dream jobs: an illustration to accompany an article in New Scientist. Each week, New Scientist reaches a global audience of over three million readers and we’re super psyched to see Becky and Louise’s work in there. Of course, it’s not the first time the girls have completed a ridiculously amazing job - their illustration and installation art has led to exhibitions in just about every continent of the world and projects for Adidas, MTV and Comme des Garcons. Long may their creative partnership prosper!
The SEA – this truth must be confessed – just keeps expanding. The latest photographer to be swept up into SEA’s onshore roster is the ultra talented Mia Mala McDonald, a photographer and cinematographer based in Melbourne. Mia’s photography has appeared in the pages of The New York Times, frankie Magazine, Yen, Dumbo Feather, Vice, Broadsheet and Dazed & Confused. Her clients include Meredith Music Festival, Boags, EMI, Mushroom Records, Little Hero, Network Ten and New York Fashion Week; to name but a few. We’re fantastically excited to welcome her aboard and introduce you to her work. Do check out her folio and rather remarkable photography blog.
Last Days of Adventures to the Heart of the Universe!
May 27, 2014 11:23 am
Starting now, you have ten days left to get your tuckuses down to Lamington Drive to check out Adventures to the Heart of the Universe. It’s the first solo exhibition ever by the brilliant Paul Robertson and features original soundwork by Jeremy Dower. Looping pixel animations will lure you into a strange world of psychedelic whirligigs, time whorls and space insects. Opening Night drew a wildly attractive crowd of animation buffs on the search for new inter-dimensional friends and we strongly urge you to come undertake your own expedition into a pixelated universe of space exploration before you end up living a boring life of white-bread sandwiches with ne’er a purple fanged fish to applaud you. Lamington Drive is open every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11am-6pm and every Saturday from 12pm-5pm.
And that's your lot for this week. Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodbye til it be morrow,
