The Easter holidays are closing in, and what could be better than getting lost in a winter wonderland where you might just find yourself chased by a dapper bunny instead of a wolf? Well, perhaps you'd prefer a holiday by the seaside eating hot chips doused in vinegar. Either way, if you like dream creatures and sparkle terrariums, you should book any kids in your life into Madeleine Stamer's Easter workshop at the lush Abbotsford Convent. It'll be full of free snacks and happy faces. Love always - jw.
Forget 'The Old Man and the Sea,' Marc Martin has written and illustrated a picture book about an old man and a seagull. It's proudly published by Penguin and in stores from March 26th. Sorry, Hemingway, but you had your time.
Marc Martin for ‘Max’
Mar 24, 2014 01:03 pm
The remarkable Marc Martin has written and illustrated another picture book published by Penguin Australia. It tells the endearing story of Bob, an old man, and Max, a perky seagull with a weakness for hot chips. Over the course of one summer, everything changes for the duo… but you’ll have to read it to find out how! ‘Max’ is in stores from March 26th. Given the success of Marc’s previous picture book, ‘The Curious Explorer’s Illustrated Guide to Exotic Animals’, it’ll probably sell like hot chips.
Easter’s a-comin’, and Beci Orpin designed a suite of limited edition chocolate boxes for Koko Black aka everyone’s dream client/chocolatier. Beci’s bunny is a pretty suave guy – he’s got the body of an Easter egg, the wand of a magician and the eye of an aristocrat. No pulling this fella out of a hat, no siree; he’s a far cry from those pink-nosed fools in the meadows.
Beci’s work is featured on all the keepsake Easter boxes as well as in store windows. Take a look – and wipe the drool off the monitor when you’re done.
Hayley Sparks recently shot Where The Wild Things Are, a magical winter wonderland spread for the Autumn/Winter 2014 issue of Studio Bambini. She worked with stylist Lydia-Jane Saunders on the editorial shoot, which ended up on the cover of the mag. We love the spiky twig crowns and brown string coils. They make us believe that these children hail from a secret forest kingdom where drifts of snow fall like soft chiffon and chunky knits are just another measure to protect against the wolf.
And that's your lot for this week. Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodbye til it be morrow,
