And welcome to Saturday Night Live! Wait no… Welcome to the Jacky Winter Peter-Peter! That’s better. We have a remarkable show for you today, people. We have intricate worlds crafted by the brilliant folk at Ars Thanea. We have Danny Cohen’s gloomily enchanting interpretation of a world without books. After that Adam Nickel takes the stage to show off his exquisite packaging design for Koko Black, then we’ll wrap everything up with our musical guest for the evening – Mimi Leung and her deep house track, 'Money', ft. sexy bacon*. Strap yourselves in, it's going to be a good 'un.
Love always – JW

Ars Thanea for EDB Singapore
Dec 15, 2014 09:28 am
Being the creative geniuses that they are, the Ars Thanea crew have teamed up with The Secret Little Agency to create three intricate, self-contained worlds for EDB Singapore. A leading government agency, EDB’s day-to-day involves planning and executing strategies to enhance Singapore’s position as a global business centre and from the looks of things, they’re doing that pretty well.
The first two visuals emphasise Singapore’s commitment to further developing the biomedical industry and the third is a fusion of the first two, illustrating the various facets of consumer business in Singapore. Each piece a complex dollhouse of sorts, the level of detail is astounding. There are tiny people with tiny parcels, pressing tiny buttons and holding tiny clipboards. It’s cute and clever in three elaborate little packages.
Hey there! We are pretty excited to be sharing our man Danny Cohen’s latest campaign, ‘Imagine a world without books’, for Bookworld with you today.
Danny and his amazing team worked across three sets to create these stunning ads. That’s right folks, almost everything you see (including the snow, mist and that enormous wardrobe) was captured IN CAMERA. Unbelievable, right?! But we were there! We promise we’re telling you the truth! Our friends Tooth and Claw were there too capturing everything going on behind the scenes so we can share that with you too. Check it out below!
‘Tis the season to cover your face in chocolate, my friends! Following Beci Orpin’s Easter Keepsake box for Koko Black earlier in the year, Adam Nickel has created a delightful illustration to adorn the boxes of this year’s Christmas Keepsake range. Used across each size of box in the series, the illustration is soft and nostalgic, drawing inspiration from childhood Christmases spent with family by the fire.
Inside these beautiful boxes is a selection of delectable chocolate creations such as the Hazelnut Praline Snowman, Rasberry Ganache and Plum Pudding Ganache, in both milk and dark couverture chocolate. Excuse me while I go get something to wipe the drool off my keyboard…
People (musicians in particular) certainly do love love. When it comes to picking something to sing about, love may be the most popular theme, but it’s tough to argue that money isn’t a close second. Crooners of all sorts have dedicated tracks to moola, clams, shekels, dough, cheddar, Benjamins, fat stacks – whatever you want to call it. Donna Summer worked hard for it, Wu Tang were ruled by it, Flying Lizzards wanted it and Dire Straits got it for nothing. Mo’ money mo’ problems – am I right?
This clip by artist Mimi Leung takes everyone’s second favourite subject, money, and mashes it up with everyone’s third favourite subject, bacon. Inspired by a phone conversation overheard at 6am, the video is a psychedelic amalgamation of original artwork, appropriated clips and the dark corners of the internet. With help from Pete Shand, who did the bulk of the character animation, Mimi gradually put the clip together over the course of the year. Full of sexy bacon and deep house, it’s everything you need to start your day off right.
Unsurprisingly the piece has been nominated on Video Of The Day so head over to put your vote in now!
