Hello, you soon-to-be April fools, and welcome to the jungle!
Here you'll be faced with the challenge of finding 100 faces in 100 original black and white photographs. Each face will emerge from a single image during the opening of Clemens Habicht's new show at Lamington Drive. Like Harry Lytle in Heart of Darkness or Guns N' Roses in their debut album, you may be thrust into an untamed and hostile wilderness where you could be forced to make decisions. But it's highly unlikely. We like peace, man. You'll be fine as long as you give 100% - unless of course you're donating blood. Love always - jw.
Speaking of giving 100%, that's just what our artist Clemens Habicht did for his new exhibition 100 FACES at Lamington Drive. He cleverly reconstructed pile upon pile of black and white pictures sourced from Vietnam and France to reveal sphinx-like smiles and striking countenances for viewers to speculate over. 100 FACES officially launches this Thursday from 6pm-9pm. Hope to see you there!
’100 FACES’ at Lamington Drive
Mar 31, 2014 09:55 am
Clemens Habicht follows up from his last extraordinarily successful exhibition at Lamington Drive, 100 KITES, with a curated collection of faces. 100 of them, in fact. Similar in concept to 100 KITES but utterly different in execution, 100 FACES takes photographs found in flea markets around Vietnam and France, and reconstructs them so that faces jump into focus. A labour of love as well as a thoughtful exercise in restrictions and collage, 100 FACES opens 6pm, Thursday, April 3rd at Lamington Drive. Each of Clemens’ 100 faces is very eager to make your acquaintance, so come along and say how d’you do, won’t you?
Eirain Chapman illustrated the four main types of decision-makers for the Mercedes-Benz through Clemenger BBDO. Existing Mercedes-Benz customers received a printed direct mail-out and the fun task of deciding whether they were a Self-Assured type, a Procrastinator, a Randomite or an i-Dotter and t-Crosser. So — what type of decision-maker are you? After all, we are nothing more than the product of the decisions we make.
Bobby Haiqalsyah for LYNX Peace and the Australian Red Cross Blood Service
Mar 26, 2014 01:15 pm
Soap Creative recently commissioned the lovely Bobby Haiqalsyah to create an illustration for LYNX Peace in partnership with the Australian Red Cross Blood Service. The two forces have collaborated to combat the stats that more than half of Australian men aged between 18 and 29 who donate blood only do so once and then don’t return for a long, long time. This poses a serious threat to the stability of our nation’s blood donation program – and now there’s a joint message from LYNX Peace and the Blood Service to these young men. Put down your guns and get out your ‘guns’. It’s time to ‘bleed’ by example and pledge to donate blood. Just one donation can help save up to three lives.
And that's your lot for this week. Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodbye til it be morrow,
