We hope your holiday season has been festive and cheery, and full of good food!
From Halloween through the New Year, we have been busy serving our local food coops and restaurants with roots, onions and squash. We had hoped for a longer harvest season, but a cold stretch of 10-degree weather in early November froze out the last of the kale, romanesco, leeks, brussels sprouts and broccoli. So we put the fields, equipment, and buildings to rest for the winter, bid our wonderful crew goodbye for a few months, and have been washing, packing and delivering orders ourselves.
Now, with only carrots, beets and daikon radish remaining, we are updating information for another season of growing fresh produce. Maps, seeds, planting logs, harvest data, pricing, feedback from you is all being reviewed, updated, and rethought as we move toward another season. The rhythm of the season brings much needed rejuvenation.
We look forward to sharing news about the 2019 CSA season and our new share options! Look for that and more in January 2019!
Lastly - thank you to our many supporters: CSA members, Dane County Farmers Market shoppers, on-farm market stand shoppers, shoppers at the Viroqua Food Coop and People's Food Coop, and diners at the Driftless Café, Hackberry's, Lovechild and the La Crosse Distilling Company.
May the New Year bring calm and peace.
