News From the Farm
Well on Monday we said goodbye to 3 crew members. For the last few years we have employed 2-3 young Amish women. The Gingerich family has been a large part of our work force for the last 4 years, and we've known their parents for 13 year. We will certainly miss their willingness to pitch in, and their positive attitudes during the most difficult and mundane tasks. Honestly, we panicked a bit when we learned they were moving. We struggle to find good employees and to find one much less three this late in the season seemed impossible. We were contemplating a disastrous end to the season. Our minds went dark places....
But as is usual, things work out and often for the better. Two past stellar employees came back part time to help out, and the daughter of a long time friend and employee joined us. And all three have been excellent additions to the team. We can now breath a sigh of relief knowing we have solid people on our team. We are happy for the fresh energy they bring to these last weeks.
If you haven't already - mark your calendars for our last CSA gathering on Sunday, October 22. We'll take a wagon ride to see what is still growing and how we're putting our fields to rest for the winter. Choose out a Jack-o-Lantern pumpkin to take home too!
Eat well and happy cooking everyone,
Mat & Cate
