NEWS FROM THE FARM: In other news we are looking forward to a great season. The greenhouse is already full of onions, leeks, celery root, all growing to get big and tough enough for the cold frames.
This week we start to move the compressor from our old original cooler to an insulted room our packing shed this will be a "warm cooler" for holding the crops that require warmer storage temperatures such as tomatoes, zucchini and eggplant. These vegetables don't like to be chilled like the leafy lettuces, green top beets/carrots and peas. The "warm cooler" will maintain ideal storage conditions to prevent over-ripeness (like what happened to our tomatoes last year). Along with trying some new varieties that holdup better, the "refrigeration" should help us get a better tomatoes to your tables. Also this week we hope to finish up our seed order. Let the fun begin- this is the dream state of a vegetable farmer, as we page through endless piles of catalogs imagining new and perfect crops. But as a farmers we are twitchy by nature and will soon have an overwhelming desire to get our hands in the dirt and attempt to make these February dreams a reality.

Call us if you have questions or want to talk in more details.

Your Farmers,
Mat and Cate
