Winter Greetings CSA Members!

We hope you are settling into the New Year. The recent snow and cold temperatures has brightened our moods here at the farm. As organic farmers, we count on cold temperatures to kill over-wintering pests and diseases, plus snow to help insulate our perennial crops. We are enjoying a slower time in these few months without deliveries, newsletters and farmers markets, yet we are excitedly planning the coming season with ordering seeds and trees, designing advertisements and brochures, and filling our calendar with March CSA events. The greenhouse starts up in just three more weeks!

* Our 2012 CSA sign-up information is now posted to our website: A few changes to our program this year:
-- changing to Thursday for our delivery day (see more description below)
-- additional pick-up sites
-- more payment options for households, making it an affordable option for everyone

* Thanks to everyone who participated in the end of season survey. One third of our membership participated in the survey. We appreciate the time you took to provide us with your feedback. A few interesting stats:
-- YOU SAID: 89% thought overall the boxes contained the right amount of food. Some would prefer more sweet corn, green beans and potatoes.
WE SAY: We love this information as we're able to tweak our crop rotation plans for the coming season. We plan to increase our succession plantings of green beans, sweet corn and potatoes.

-- YOU SAID: 90% indicated the switch to a Thursday delivery would not affect sign-up for 2012.
WE SAY: Wonderful! We are changing the delivery day to Thursday's to give us more time to harvest, wash and pack more of a diversity of crops for each box.

-- YOU SAID: Most members faithfully read the Weekly Weeder newsletter, but would like more recipes and cooking techniques in the newsletter.
WE SAY: We'll try our best to add more to the newsletter.

-- Congratulations to the winners of the $50 certificate towards their 2012 CSA produce share, Carolynn & Anthony Devine of La Crescent!!

Please let us know if you have questions. We truly appreciate your continued support of our family farm. You are helping us create a real local economy!
