BD-6 Information

Sebring 2016

Despite some rainy weather later in the week, the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring this year was another great success for everyone involved. There were some great vendors this year with something for everyone. We want to thank everybody who came by the Bedecorp booth this year to visit. We had our BD-17L on static display as well as in the air for the aircraft showcase. Next on our list is Sun 'n' Fun in Lakeland April 5th-10th at booth N-67. Make sure you come out to see us!
Ever dreamed of building a BD-5? Well now is your chance because Bedecorp is releasing the BD-5 plans for sale! This 300 page document details all the parts and dimensions for constructing your own BD-5 at home, and with today's huge variety of small, powerful motors on the market, you can find the power plant to meet your needs! From the desk of Eric Ingraham;

  Things really kicked off the Bede Family Foundation with the presentation of a BD-4 kit to the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia in December. The students are making good progress although slowed for a few weeks while they prep for an international robotics competition.

  While in Philadelphia I was contacted by a group in Hillsborough County Florida. We paid them a visit and looked at a dozen aircraft and sent out solicitation letters. I'm happy to report that a gentleman called as a result and said he had checked out our website and Facebook page and if his 1958 Cessna 310 could help fund this kind of a project come and get it. With a little luck we'll be picking it up in a couple of weeks.

  At the same time we got a call from a gentleman in Mobile, Alabama. He had read a letter that was sent to the FBO owner at his local airport. He has four BD-5 kits that, by his own admission, he'll never finish and if they can be used for educational purposes come and get them. The crew will be heading to mobile on Monday.

  While we're not there yet, things a certainly heading in the right direction. If you have a plane, flying or not, please consider the tax write off and donate it to the foundation (we accept cash donations as well). The next generation A & P's, Engineers and Pilots will appreciate it.

Be sure to pick up the April 2016 copy of Kitplanes magazine to read the great article published about Jim Bede Sr.
