From the desk of Jim Bede,
From our family at Bedecorp, Bede Aero Southeast and now, the Bede Family Foundation, we would like to wish you all happy holidays and a prosperous New Year! This past year has been a long one for our family with the loss of my dad, Jim Bede Sr. I would like to thank everyone for their touching and heartfelt email condolences. I can’t tell how many times I read the words, “Let me tell you my favorite joke told by your dad”…. (many of them obviously could not be posted on the memorial website).
In regards to the aviation side of Bedecorp, we have 10 to 12 aircraft that were designed by my father, leaving us with an inventory of new products into the future. Especially during the holiday season I would like to remind those of you fortunate enough to still have your parents, take time with them and give them a call. My son happened to be in town 2 days before my dad’s sudden death and suggested lunch with grandpa. I was tired and really didn't feel like going. Thank God I did. That was on a Sunday and dad passed the following Tuesday. While cleaning out and organizing his office I found numerous videos, (which will eventually be posted on our website). These videos show BD-5 spin testing to the construction of the BD-12. I also came across some old newsletters. It’s nice to look back and reminisce. Some of you will recognize people in the newsletter, many of which are gone now. I think it was a time in kit-built history that is worth going back and taking a look at. Below is a copy of one of those newsletters.
We do have some new products we hope to introduce in 2016. We are in the process of purchasing a second hangar in Fort Pierce, Florida doubling our capacity to 20,000 sqft!
Once again, a special thanks for your support and sharing your stories and memories of my dad.
