Three new grants put block play in 17 libraries

Thanks to recent grants from The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation, the Elizabeth B. Kelley Fund of The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation and the Lucky Seven Foundation, more children will be developing math and literacy skills during free monthly block parties in libraries around the county. Parents and caregivers are invited to bring children to a block party and build, talk, explore and create together. Read more »

Paul G. Allen Foundation Awards $175,000 for Science to Go

Pierce County Library will introduce Science To Go in 29 elementary schools thanks to funding from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation. The new literacy program will give a library card to every child and will narrow the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) gap while broadening children's reading skills. Read more »

Upcoming GED® changes

The GED® test is changing on January 1, 2014. After January 1, scores from previous tests will be invalid and cannot be combined with any new test scores. If you have taken the test since January 1, 2002 and want your scores to count, you must complete the series and pass the test before 2014. Read more »
