January 2021 Newsletter
Welcome to the Breaston Pre-School January Newsletter!

Happy New Year to all our families, we've enjoyed welcoming you back and miss those of you who are not currently attending! Please be assured that we are constantly reviewing our policies regarding safeguarding against Coronavirus and are doing everything that we can to keep your children and our staff as safe as we can.

To that end, please can all parents remember the following:
  • Masks are to be worn in the playground at drop off/pick up by everyone who is not medically exempt. Please ensure that you are wearing your mask over your nose and mouth.
  • Everybody is to enter through the bottom gate - if you are picking up early please check if this gate is open BEFORE attempting to enter through the exit gate.
  • All children are to wash their hands before entering. Parents are not to enter the building unless pre-arranged. Please wait for a member of staff to pass your child's belongings out to you, if necessary. If you need to knock on the door in order to collect early, please do so then wait outside of the building.
  • Strictly no school-aged children in the playground please. Staff can collect your child from the bottom gate if necessary.
  • Please observe social distancing in the playground, especially at the door.
  • Children are not to bring any toys or items from home (unless agreed with Sarah) beyond their packed lunch, change bag if necessary, and appropriate outdoor attire. We have lots of spare clothing so you do not need to provide a change of clothes for your child.
  • If your child is poorly, keep them at home. Strictly no children in Pre-School who have had Calpol (or other brands of paracetamol/ibuprofen) in the 48 hours prior to the session.
We thank you for your continued cooperation in keeping the children and staff safe.
Adverse Weather Conditions
We wish to make you aware that if extreme weather causes adverse driving conditions (for example, if the roads are impassable due to snow), then as most of our staff commute to work we will not be able to open.
While we hope that this does not happen, we felt it best to warn parents of the possibility. In the event of such a closure, we would contact parents ASAP. Please ensure that your contact details are up to date.
 Weather Appropriate Clothing and Wellies
Please ensure that your child is attending Pre-School in warm clothing, and has a winter coat and hat. All items of clothing that can be removed should be clearly labelled with their name. The children are encouraged to play outside all year round but need to be dressed appropriately to enjoy themselves.

If your child wears wellies to walk to Pre-School, please ensure that they have another pair of shoes to wear indoors. Wellies are not appropriate as indoor footwear.
Fundraising
A massive THANK YOU to The Chequers Inn and everyone who went to their Santa's Grotto for raising an incredible £789 for Pre-School!
After a difficult year, it's so heartwarming to receive this level of support from our local community. The fact that Chequers did this while forced to close their business really shows their community spirit and strength of character. We really can't thank them enough!

Together with the monies raised from our Christmas Fundraiser, we will be able to purchase the new IT equipment that we so desperately need!

If your child is not currently attending Pre-School due to the current lockdown, please keep an eye on your emails this week as we will be sending out the first of a series of home learning activity emails for you. These are by no means mandatory, we want to support you and your child's learning and wellbeing while you are staying home by suggesting fun activities for you to try out!
If you would like, you can use the First Steps Parent Link app to upload photos of what your child is up to (Press the +Add button in their learning journal). We would love to see!
EGM
Thank you to those of you who attended the online EGM. We are pleased to confirm that the new constitution for the charity was unanimously voted in.
Thank you for continued support.
