I know that many of us are planning time away for some vacation time—and so our Summer Sermon Series “Rest” comes at a perfect time!
Over the next 4 Sundays, we will learning together about God’s rhythm of rest and work, how to create practice of Sabbath, how Jesus creates rest for us, and how we can live in the frantic world we live as disciples.
I invite you to join us by ZOOM or Livestream worship over the next 4 weeks for this series, and I am also delighted to welcome The Rev. Canon Dr. Drew MacDonald to our Livestream Worship as our guest Celebrant this Sunday. Drew+ is a gifted and experienced priest, and has just retired as Rector of St. John’s York Mills. Drew+ will be covering for my summer holidays in August and so it’s lovely that he will be with me on Sunday to celebrate the Eucharist. Welcome Drew+!
Also, we are toasting Susan and Ross Evans this coming Sunday as they prepare to move to Kingston. Please drive by or stroll into the church parking lot from 11:30-12:30 as we celebrate our friendship with the Evans and thank them for decades of shared ministry in this place!
Finally, my brothers and sisters, I want to thank you for the wonderful gift of becoming your rector on September 1st. As Katya said, the Priest-in-Charge role was a 2 year appointment, and so now you are stuck with me! I am touched by the swift decision to move into a permanent and distinct incumbency, and I am delighted about what God is doing among us. I gave thanks for this last Sunday and if you missed it, Edward has included the clip for you below. Save the Date for September 26 at 4pm when the Bishop will visit for the induction service and we will party as a parish!
I look forward to worshipping with all of you on Sunday.
